Given Audi's build quality reputation, have any other owners experienced similar faults to these - all of which have occurred during my car's first 600 miles:

1 ECU amber warning light coming on unnecessarily - according to the dealer. Apparently this is due to a general RS6 ECU software fault due to the car "not liking" the driving conditions in Jersey (I have some sympathy). The problem is that any genuine faults that would ordinarily result in the light going on are all going to be happily overlooked by me because I assume it's come on "unnecessarily".

2 Tyre pressure warning light coming on in respect of all four tyres. Again, one would expect possibly one tyre to lose pressure perhaps after a thousand miles or so but all 4 at the same time after 400 miles? It has to be a system fault.

3 A noise which I can only describe as a couple of drinks cans being "tumble dried" in the glove compartment. Something has broken off inside the air ventilation system and I seriously thought it was going to smash through to the passenger seat.

4 Loose wire in ventilation system (passenger side again) resulting in hot air coming out on passenger side.

5 Finally, for good measure, still no Nav CD or load net 2 months after delivery. It seems that the nav system can't be used without a cd.

6 Oh and don't forget the noisy fan for the air con (see previous post)

I had an S4 which had a loose turbo plate after 15,000 miles. Audi were good on the warranty side but it still took our one and only dealer over here 3 months to fix the bl##dy thing. After that I thought long and hard about ordering another high spec audi and beleive me you cannot imagine the disappointment to spend this sort of money on a car and to have this number of problems. At the moment I have little confidence in taking the car away for a decent run out in France - what's the next warning light going to be?

The only one of those problems I've had is the tyre pressure monitor coming on for all four wheels - I've seen this on two different RS 6s. I suspect it happens when something upsets the transponders in the wheel, perhaps radio inteference or something? Storing pressures usually sorts it out and it does alert properly when it needs to.

Don't like the sound of your check engine light coming on - what's wrong with the driving conditions on Jersey?

Lose wires and pipework in the passenger side sounds too much to be coincidence - I bet something's happened during manufacture, shipping or PDI that's caused a problem in that area. I've generally had no problems with interior build quality, although the inevitable 17k squeaks and rattles are starting and need sorting out.

No Nav CD is your dealer's fault IMHO. Mine came with a 2002 Tele Atlas CD, but to tell the truth they are not that up-to-date. I strongly suspect that a retail one from Tele Atlas themselves will be more up to date. If you give Tele Atlas a shout, they should soon have a 2004 DX CD released with TMC (traffic info) capability, but make sure they guarantee you it will have TMC if you buy it as they have released a 2004 CD without it due to licencing issues or somthing.

It does sound to me like your dealer aren't that hot. Perhaps it's because you're somewhat of a captive audience over there? Threaten to ring Audi UK directly, that sometimes makes a dealer pay a bit more attention.

Hope your RS 6 experience takes a bit of an upturn soon.

I agree with Chris.. these arn't problems you should be expected to put up with.

In no way is it normal for you to be driving round with a ECU light on.. total bollocks to be told that driving somewhere is different to somewhere else.. errr.. a road is a road and that light is on for a reason. It is also the responsibilty of your dealer to get the rattles sorted. Get on to them and get them to sort it.

My RS6 came with the 2002 Tele Atlas disc with it. Get one from Tele Atlas and charge it back to your dealer.

I never had any problems with the tyre pressure sensors.. the only time it did go off was when I had a nail in my near side rear.. did it's job well!!

Your dealers sounds at fault I'm afraid. Make a list of your problems, go in with it and give them a reasonable amount of time to get it sorted before you start to make a real fuss

Thanks for the reply Chris. I think the dealer (or rather the service manager) is trying the best they can but don't have enough audi technicians for the amount of car sales over here.

All the faults have been fixed. The ECU warning light was fixed by putting some clamps over the engine manifold {?) or something like that. The air con noise has sort of been fixed - the air con no longer works so back it's got to go but the response to the complaints/faults was first class.

Driving in Jersey is probably similar to driving in a city centre - lots of gear changes and stops and starts.

How did they fix the tire pressure warning? My allroad does the same!

I've had recurrent problems with the Tyre Pressure Warning light- until Audi have another look I've been advised to reset the computer- only problem being the menu button between the seats is faulty.
Other warning light I get,frequently but not constantly , is the Brake Warning. This happens on start up but then disappears.
Apart from last week's failure of windscreen and headlamp washers everything else is hunky-dory [img]images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]
Re the aircon whine- have been assured this is normal/standard etc by the RS6 specialist at my dealer.

Sounds like you've had a few problems there, martian.

My business partner had to have new brake discs & pads, driver's seat back and transmission recently! I am beginning to think I got off lucky with mine, despite it being built during Oktoberfest time! [img]images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
