TCU maps
TCU maps
I recently bought a TCU controler to replace my MTM mapped unit which was starting to fail. It works exactly as the seller described so no issues there. The map on it only allows for manual up shifts but has disabled manual downshifts. It feels very responsive upshifting but dosent have the smooth engine braking / torque coverter engagement when off the pedal like the MTM map and I believe the Viper map also. I'm thinking it maybe from a stage 2 or 3 tuned car maybe ? Any ideas who may have done it? And does viper still offer the re maps? Cheers lads!
Daily beater, Daytona Avant, MTM stage 1 & box map, wagners, bilsteins, hotchkis arb, milteks, Girodisc stoppers etc
Re: TCU maps
Yeah, the engine braking on the MTM TCU chip is very good. I have a Viper TCU also and it doesn't do it.
I got my MTM TCU done in the USA. I think the reseller that did it went bust. Why don't you contact MTM USA to see what they can do for you.

Re: TCU maps
Very probably the bit that is failing in your TCU isn't the MTM eeprom. You could get an electronics repair specialist to lift it off the old TCU and put it on the new one.

Re: TCU maps
I like that idea Shop! I'm sure it was originally mapped / chipped by Kim Collins at QST so maybe worth contacting them also. Food for thought!
