Plus Aux Radiators

Evening all, don't suppose anyone has a diagram of the plumbing on the Plus?
Just had a strip down for timing belt service and decided to treat her to some new Wagners. Unfortunately on removing the old leaky intercoolers there is only one aux radiator! Looks to have been removed at some point and replaced with some dodgy looking plumbing. Very surprised as as last owner looked after it well and it is pretty easy to find history on here if you look at the posts from previous owners. Could have been done years ago, certainly the intercoolers were originals. The remaining radiator is looking sorry for itself so will try and source two and get them recored if not available. My problem is trying to work out what pipework i need to source hence the diagram.

I don’t have diagrams but can take pictures of mine, might need a little direction on exactly what you want to see!

Basically everything on the nearside. There are some odd lengths of aftermarket hose that have been joined with a bot of copper pipe and hose clips. Need to try and work out what parts i need to try and find. Not sure you will be able to get pics as they are buried behind the intercoolers.

Have you had a look at the parts diagrams? They normally are my first go to for lay outs and locations of parts. Normally can get a pretty decent idea of what's going on

Thank you, that's exactly what i need. Was obviously searching in the wrong places for it!
Looks like there's a lot of obsolete parts i will need to try and source!

Prob best seeing if one is being broken, and then try and get the parts yourself, can photograph where the bits go, and not break bits....
Have you checked the likes of Audi tradition?

There's a diagram in Elsawin, too, with more information about flow directions, etc.

I will check around to see if any are being broken, however because the plus is the only one with the extra cooling that makes it even more difficult to source. I found a "system" on eBay that was from some manual contraption. Hard to see what is there as it had been massively barstadised, i have ordered it and hopefully there are some salvageable parts there. If not then it will have to go back together as it is until i find one being broken.
Any recommendations for having the remaining radiator repaired?

Unless you are living in a really hot country then you can probably just do without it. The standard RS6 don't have them, only the ones destined for hot countries, and the Plus got them, probably to avoid having variants.

So having looked at the remaining radiator, it looks pretty rough. I have found they are still available at Audi tradition for the usual RS premium! The timing belt service which was about 5000 miles but 5 years is getting expensive as i had already added Wagners and cam cover gaskets ........But would be good to keep the Plus standard.
Is there a trick to buying from Audi Tradition as i am not VAT registered?

I think there are a couple guys on here who live in europe who you can get it posted to who will then forward it in to you, unless you have some friends living over there.

Alternatively get Audi Tradition parts via Deutsche parts in the uk. I get all my AT parts through them.
Tel 01531 640800.
Tel them what you want. Inc the part no if possible.
Pay for it.
They do all the rest.

Hi Nobbsy

I can help you get the parts that you need from Audi Tradition. I have an account with them and order from them regularly, often weekly.
I don't monitor this forum as much as I do the FB groups, so you can contact me here, but you'll get a quicker response on FB messenger.

I also agree with Shop, you don't need the extra complexity of the 'HOT COUNTRY' pipework, but if you want to keep it original I understand.

Craig Barlow

P.S. I consider Steve a friend, he is my FB friend :-) But he always recommends Deutsche Parts and when he does I roll my eyes. In my experience they are slow (they order monthly, sometimes bi-monthly, it's based on demand). They are expensive, they have import tax and custom charges to deal with and as a middle-man they claim a considerable amount. I can beat their deals (y)

Thanks for the offer Craig. I think i have it sorted now, there is a local company that makes rads for classic race cars. Just waiting on a quote but hopeful they will be cheaper and better quality.
