Is my C5 RS6 Healthy?

Post by TOPMAN » Fri Nov 08, 2024 5:19 pm

OK Boys and Girls!

I've done a quite a bit of engine work on my car over the years, and I've started to wonder after putting the engine back together again recently, if everything is as it should be?

So my question is, do we have somewhere a checklist of values that we should check in VCDS, or do we have some recommended groups to monitor and log. I'm thinking things like boost requested vs boost received, MAF readings, camshaft phasing and other basic values. Have we collected our knowledge in one place?

My car is running better than I can remember, and makes me wonder if everything is finally OK?

Have a great weekend peeps! :kissmyrings:

I don't think there's a checklist, but it's not a bad idea to have some figures to look at to compare.

I can think of a few examples off the top of my head:

MAFs on a WOT run
EGTs
Time taken to achieve requested boost from given rpm (useful for detecting leaky IC / boost leaks).
N75 duty cycle
Ignition retarding

What else?

Maybe acceleration times in terms of time taken to get from 30 to 60 in one gear, although this will vary depending on the tune of the car using the vehicle speed sensor.

I remember spending a lot of time trying to figure out if mine was achieving full power using lots of different methods, but in the end gave up and took it to a rolling road.
