RS6 Plus 388/999 purchase

Hi all,
My friend won the online auction on carsandclassic.com. Tomorrow, he is going to review the car before the money transfer, as carsandclassic.com gives you this protection despite winning an auction. I will probably go with him to check for obvious RS6 stuff
https://www.carandclassic.com/auctions/ ... lus-nMjNW4
My ask is if anyone knows this car please drop a comment. From what I found so far, user
Tomson (inactive since 2022

) owned this car for a brief moment and sold it in 2010. Tomson mentioned in one of his comments that the car was resprayed all around which explains the rear RS6 badge in the wrong spot BADGETARD.. but other than that, no more info was found. Currently, the car is owned by 60+ gentlemen with a private collection of cars which would explain his rs246 Forum absence. He mentioned the car had a small front collision at some point therefore the LH headlight is new.
Any help, comment, or info is welcome.

That's a good price for what looks like a tidy Plus.
There are some surprisingly rusty bits, though. I wonder if it was stored outside in a humid place. I'd want to see what it looks like underneath.
It doesn't have DRC or standard exhaust which might hurt its collector value a little.
It needs Allroad wiper arms and a stubby aerial.
I wonder why it was resprayed so early in its life. It's hard to tell from the photos whether the paintwork is any good or not.

Looks like the driver's side mirror is blown, too.
You can see loads of containers in the reflection of the boot. I wonder if the car was stored in one of those.

Shop, yes that made me wonder too, looking underneath will reveal the true condition.
Tomson never gave a reason for respray
The whole car resprayed (excluding the roof)

Another post referring to this specific car

We'll see tomorrow... If I get a day off from work

I'd say so, the car is stored ish since 2016, only done 5k miles since...

So it had 115k miles in 2010 but now it's got 93k?
/Also the passenger mirror is not a standard LCD unit. Tiny details, maybe.

Nope. 115k one was another one. MOT history shows straight mileage increases.

I dunno, that whole thread reads like it's talking about the 115k miles car. Are we sure we're talking about the same car here? I mean are you sure this the one that Tomson resold?

But here, he says that he sold his RS6 Plus with only 54k miles

This is confusing

I think this is a different car with 115k miles. I went through his posts and did my best to make some sense out of it.

Yeah. And don't forget he's a dealer, so he might have bought and sold several Plusses.

Anyway, he said he "recently sold" the black one with Cognac interior and 54k miles in a post in April 2010. The post where he says the 115k car is his is in June 2010 so I reckon it's a different Plus he's bought and nothing to do with the one your mate has bought.

Shop, also the car passed MOT in Jan 2010 with 52,408 miles which aligns perfectly with his statement. I think we are OK at least with the mileage.
