The rear end rebuild is coming along nicely. I have brought some braided brake pipes to replace the originals. The problem is that the nut on the steel pipe have welded itself to the old flex. I’m reluctant to put heat on it as it’s so close to the take and filler pipe (although I could remove the filler pipe I guess).

I’m leaning more towards cutting the seal brake pipe, putting a new nut on and reflaring the pipe.

Has anyone done this or did you find another solution (leaving it isn’t really an option)?

I would soak it in lots of lots of release oil. For as long as you realistically can.

Then I would use heat on one side with a mini blow torch and use a candle to try to get some wax into the thread. I have had great success with this technique on seized and rusted exhaust nuts and bolts.

I think you should be able to use heat safely as long as you don’t go bonkers.

You cooks also try an induction heater if you’ve got access to one. They are magic.
