rear light cluster confusion

as some of you might remember... while in a Swiss garage a rear light cluster was cracked.
as of a week ago i get a rear brake light warning often. today i upgraded the bulbs to Osram LED. i now get the warning every time i brake, although as far as i can see the lights work.
decided to pull the holders, clean the connections, hopefully that fixes it.
i figured i'd swap the rear left cluster with the replacement the garage gave me... only they're different. annoying

The unit that came off has a linear pattern on the reverse light and is a brighten red with a kind of golden glow. It matches the one on the right.
It has a part number 4B9 945 095 F 3FZ
if i google the above i get a standard C5 A6 rear light:

Looks like this:

I'm guessing the one that came off the car is correct and the garage gave me a normal A6 light. The one they gave me (on the left above) looks a lot like this from Audi Tradition:

I seem to have had a run of bad luck with other people messing with my car.

My garage in Holland told me the RS6 has special darker lights?

Anyone know what has happened here?

The darker light is a pre-facelift light. The other is a facelift light it really is a simple as that.
The RS6 is a facelift car, so only came with the newer version light

the dutch garage confused me with the 'RS6 has a special darker light' talk.
