Hey All,
Ive got a Apikol Intake on my RS6 and maybe im thinking to much into it but surely with the cones sat right ontop of the engine it is heatsoak central is it not?
It sounds incredible but is this not detrimental to performance?
Thanks!

I think this was always a concern with those. It's been a while since I heard about them.

The big question is...
Do i get some heatshields manufactured as the setup seems awfully backwards however it does sound cool
Or do i just put the carbon airbox back on and loose all the whooshing lol

The OE C5 intake isn't at all restrictive, so you won't lose anything going back to it other than the noises. If you have both and a
Vagcom then you can log the intake temps on various similar runs, with first one intake, then the other, to see if there's any significant temp difference.
I personally have a preference for keeping things OE as much as possible, but that's just me.

I do have full
Vagcom i was planning to log the MAFs to check everything is well so will do this too..
I agree about going back to factory and i may well do, will report back once ive done some testing!

Just a thought. When my fans had a fault IIRC
Vagcom showed that there was a fault.
Update. Looking back I found this.

I was dubious about the size of the standard RS6 air filters when compared to my S2 filter(same filter as an 8 valve golf), the pleats were nearly twice as deep, it was longer, but can't remember width.
The S2 ended up with slight vacuum on the clean side of the filter once mapped.
I do believe the standard RS6 filters will flow enough, but it always seems like the turbos will have to work harder.
That's why I went with Integra filters and custom piping.
Without back to back testing, it's hard to say weather my potentially easier flowing, but hotter air set up is any good.
