Hello. Need to replace front brake pads on my C5 RS6. What is the collectives recommendations on brake pads - I know cheap ones won't be up to the job, but also that genuine Audi ones are not necessarily the best out there either.

I have always used genuine pads.
However I couldn’t seem to obtain genuine pads this time.
So I recently eventually went with yellow stuff to give them a try as they were recommended to me by a mechanic who likes fast cars.

I haven’t fitted them yet so cannot say one way or the other.
I know some people like them and some people dislike them.

DS 2500 are another choice that were recently recommended to me.

After buying the yellow stuff pads. A very knowledgeable member on here informed me that the rs4 b7 pads are identical to the rs6 c5 pads, and they are still available.

I’m 95% sure the B7 RS4 pads are the same and they are still available as OE.

Currently using Brembo HP2000 ( with RB racing rotors 380mm floating disks) seem good to me.

Previously Girodics pads and EBC yellow - all fine. ( The judder possibly by warping oem discs or not uing hard enough) no longer a poblem. Suspect the discs rather than the pads.

i’ve changed that now. Shows I should proof read before submitting.

Mulling it over
- Ferodo FDB1664 - circa £ 100 (someone said they were quite good)
- Brembo HP2000 - circa £ 250
- awaiting prices from Audi/TPS for OEM.

They don’t sound like the DS2500 to me. They’ll be awful if they’re just the standard road pads. Also check the quantities - i have a feeling you need 2 sets of DS2500 per axle on the RS6.

FWIW I find them good on the M3. They stand up to track use.

Brembo HP2000 pads, front (£ 211.75 + VAT)

Will order the fitting kits from Audi.

I literally order these about two weeks ago although my discs were £341.00 each but the pads were the same sort of price.
I’m fitting mine this weekend. Fingers crossed the non gen discs will be up to the job, not that I drive it really hard though.
Tradition want £741.00 per disc which is a rip!!! . I looked into AP Racing discs but they only have one mounting bell and say it will take 10 weeks to make a new pair. They were about £400 a disc plus the bells at £141.00.

I got my discs through Autodoc and the price fluctuates. Together with a discount code from my webbrowser plug in "honey" it brought price down a bit.

Well, everythings arrived now, so no excuses, just got to find time.

Be interesting to see how these Zimmermans hold up, I think they look decent, sonetines theres too much emphasis on OE when there's perfectly good aftermarket kit out there.
