Gents, could I ask for some assistance please?
Auto doc are listing 2 ZF gearbox service kits for out cars ( the more expensive one out of stock! )
Can anyone tell me which one is correct? and if its the out of stock one, what about the suggested alternatives?
Many thanks
Ric

https://www.autodoc.co.uk/zf-parts/7281193 (£221) out of stock

or is the second one the same as this but without the oil? https://www.autodoc.co.uk/zf-getriebe/8 ... dByGa=4921 (£69) plus 7 litres ZF Lifegaurd5 (£108) ???

or Meyle kit ? https://www.autodoc.co.uk/meyle/7518237 (£190)

or Vaico kit ?https://www.autodoc.co.uk/vaico/7623679 (£255)

The first one is for RS6 according to the ZF website. You gotta hope they know what they're doing since they make the box.

As far as I can tell, the 2nd one is also suitable for the RS6 but no longer manufactured. Maybe the first one is the replacement for it.

Personally, I would go for the first one. Seems like a good price. Worst case, if it's not the right filter then I'd get one from Audi.

You'll need the gaskets and seals, too.

I always use this. It is the right filter, too.
You need an extra litre of oil than the kit comes with though, oddly.

FFS. I knew there was good info floating around. I'd even linked to your post in the FAQ. My memory is not what is was, and it was never particularly good.

If you edit your post after the notification is sent, then no new notification is sent, that's probably why nobody replied to your added question. I'll have a look now.

Transfer box: 0.88l
Front diff: 1.3l
Rear diff: 1.5l
All: Gear oil SAE 75 W90 (synthetic oil)

You'll probably find a device like this useful:

It's what I use, but now I see they have electric ones and now I want one of those. Sigh.

Rick. Re gearbox. Make sure the o ring is a interference fit on the filter spout and recess.
If someone else is doing it. Make sure they are aware.
This simple check will save you a lot of hassle.
Any mechanic worth their salt would know this.
Unfortunately I got a mechanic who didn’t know his arse from his elbow.
And I had to pay £90.00 per hour for his incompetence.
