MOT Failure

Post by MattyVRS6 » Tue Oct 25, 2022 6:43 pm

Hi all,

Car failed it's MOT on a tyre and nearside front suspension ball joint. It had been knocking so I thought it might be brought up. Anyway I was happy with the fail list thinking it wouldn't be too big a bill...

I've priced 4 Michelin PS4's up at £800 fitted (ouch). I have 18 inch Bola's 275 35 18. The other 3 are fairly low so thought I'd replace all 4. It currently has Nankangs on which I haven't had an issue with but they are coming out at £580 fitted - thought I may aswell get the Michelins for the sake of another £220.

My mechanic has advised the suspension arm job may be a nightmare due to the bolt being seized - great!!

I used to have a D3 A8 4.2TDI and had the same issue with that re the suspension arm, cost a ridiculous amount.

Good job I love it!

Nankang?! FML. Lucky you’re still alive. Yeah PS4S are a must-have. I assume you meant PS4S.

Yeah PS4S. I've read mixed reviews on Nankang NS2's.

Just checked and it is PS4's, not PS4S's - the S versions aren't available in my size for some reason.

Uniroyal rainsports are also worth a look. Never had any bother with them.

The PS4 appear to be OK, also. There's quite a good direct comparison on YouTube. I've got those Uniroyals on my Volvo. Hard to compare with the RS6, even if they are both lardy barges.

I've used that offer before. Works well.

Totally agree, excellent tyres, I ran three full sets on my 3.0 Touareg and purchased the last set a few months ago prior to selling and have bought plenty Uni's in the past.

Not promoting Camskill over other providers in any way, however I think its worth noting they have a technical fella Brian who replies to any emails very promptly with impartial advice, he very often called me first thing in reply to an overnight email, I used him to great effect when I upgraded my van rims from 16 to 18's and ran into some load rating issues a couple of years ago.
