Brexit

Post by steve2003rs6 » Fri Oct 21, 2022 9:12 pm

Ordered oil cooler and 6 x oil hoses from Germany for the Rs6.
They arrived in the UK on the 22nd September and I have still not received them.
OK they are due to be delivered to me this Monday. But what a polava
Eventually I received a form from customs to fill in. Proof of what I paid etc. Then asking for my EORI number.
Weeks later another letter asking for the duty to be paid.
Finally confirmation that the package would be delivered.
Really pleased that the parts were not required urgently.
I will eventually use them when required.

Yeah customs is always a royal PITA. Over here in CH we also have the same type of deal when ordering anything.

Out of interest, where did you order the hoses from?

I have bought from Autodoc recently and not had such a rigmarole. Sooner we're back in the single market and customs union the better. I ordered something from the USA a few years ago and it was actually picked up by customs. Normally things just got through and it was no bother at all. That was weeks of faff and extra expense. The delays now are just ridiculous.

Astro I purchased from RScarparts in Germany.
Benjamin, Oliver and Simon were a pleasure to deal with.

The second package I ordered was valued at about £650 which came through without any faff.

But the initial order of around £1600 was a complete nightmare.
Apparently if your order exceeds £1K it can be a pain. But I don’t know why.

Prolly they're looking for a way to take a bigger slice of the pie. I hate customs with a passion.

I gather its sorted now?

Gonna be doing (big) work on the 6? Image

Astro. No mate. Not planning on any big work. With the spares situation as it is. I decided to obtain some of the really hard to get bits “just in case”.

Service due in April next year.
So as usual I will ask grizz if he can do some other bits.

I see you have a tick list of to do items.
Weird really as I have had nearly all of your items done at unit 20 over the last couple of years.
Great minds think alike ???????

I haven’t done the CPS.

Received all parts that I ordered.
All parts are new and appear to be original.
Good company to get parts from.

Steve, have they (RS Carparts) got a website, quick scan I could only see Facebook, which I'm not signed up too. I too buy in advance of needing.

Tried that 7Zap.com, it's a nightmare to navigate and I end up going round in circles, didn't seem to accept my VIN either.

Autodoc is actually pretty decent.

Any other sites I can use ?

Cheers

Stu

Google this. It’s all in German but you have the option to select English.
Then scroll through and select A6 then RS6 then 4B for the C5 model.
Loads of parts listed. If the part you are after isn’t listed send them a email. They are extremely helpful.

Fantastic, I've a B8.5 RS4, so guessing they'll accommodate different models of the same marque.

Ill jump on to my lappie later and have a browse in "English" ... cheers for the reply.

Just my Donald Duck, they have only 5 listings for the B8.. pretty much kits/seals and retaining pins for Caliper rebuilds, conversely the B7 listings amount to circa 150 count.

As you say, I'll email them and see if they can provide O.E part numbers which will help confirm a couple of parts, maybe they can get hold of whatever I need, I'll drop your name in Steve if that's OK, no doubt they will remember Steve and his RS6 lol...

Yes stu send them a email.
Benjamin was great to deal with.
Ps don’t forget you have to pay import taxes on top of the cost of your parts.
Pps are you having problems with the rs4 section on here.
As you know this is the rs6 c5 section.
No worries just wondering ??????

In case anyone is interested Audi Tradition is running a clearance sale.

https://shops.audi.com/assets/cms/conte ... 2280c.xlsx

Fair chunk of applicable parts for our C5s, and RHD things too e,g. some carbon interior trim etc.

Yeah and the list keeps getting bigger. I tick one item off, then 3 new ones appear Image

Very clever of you to stock up on them pipes. They are a rare find in good condition nowadays. I am also keeping the ones from my donor car and one of them is already showing quite a bit of rust.
