Easiest way to order genuine parts
Re: Easiest way to order genuine parts
Ha. Hens teeth.
What about a left tiptro button for 4 spoke multifunction steering wheel?

My left side one has cracked the plastic rim and gone slightly golden, as they do.
I think I have a spare of that one, but unless we can persuade someone to do a production run of the mirrors, I think we're probably heading towards non auto-dimming ones in future...
I did look at some of the adhesive LCD options before - but found nothing interesting.

I'd think doing short runs of a lot of NLA parts would be useful. I have no idea who does that kind of thing though. It's definitely something that does need to be done as these cars are in the no man's land between old and classic.
Re: Easiest way to order genuine parts
It's all doable, it's just whether it's economically viable. Bodywork, such as front bumper or a wing - no way.
I bit of mirror glass or an oil cooler - yeah, could be.
FWIW if someone has an oil cooler with the unions sheared off - don't throw it out. Post it to me.

Maybe we need to convince mirrorjohn to do a production run.
Problem is they are heated, too. Also complex shape. I could live without the heating and the autodimming. Don't think mine's ever auto-dimmed anyway because my rear window tinting is so dark.

Re: Easiest way to order genuine parts
I'd want replacement mirrors to be as good as the originals so I'd want the heating and auto dimming.
Interior knobs and switches are another useful item as they often get broken or worn.

Absolutely. If they are available.

Manual S6. Nice. Rare. Hideous wheels, though.

Re: Easiest way to order genuine parts
Yeah, I agree. It's that tricky area between classic and current again. When it's a classic you get it out once a month on Sunday so wear and risk of failure is minimal. I'll no doubt stump up for the new OE parts while they are available.
/although my mirror failed while it was sitting in a nice dry garage, so who knows.

Mine has gone yellow while parked.... Regretting having sold them spares last year.Shoppinit wrote:Yeah, I agree. It's that tricky area between classic and current again. Ah ok Ben. Yes that is the one. I didn’t read it too carefully I just checked out the photos. Didn’t look yellow in the photos.

Re: Easiest way to order genuine parts
Once I have mine back on the road, it's gonna be treated as classic. If I didn't have a spare car atm, I'd be in serious trouble to find some parts for it (e.g. rusting oil cooling lines, power steering hardware and even trim parts).Shoppinit wrote: ↑Wed Mar 30, 2022 10:45 am
