How would you stop the shaft rotating?
I've got a DTD154. I wonder if I can get a 1/2" drive for it.

Re: Coilovers
I wouldn't just bang it on and run it - I'd give it a squirt and expect the nut to come off PDQ. TBH, you could probably just hold the shaft in your hand, that'd likely be enough resistance.
Unless the nut is truly and properly seized on, then you need to get more creative.

Well that was interesting. I ran it up to a mate of mine who works in a garage. He stuck an impact driver on it and it came straight off without needing to hold the shaft. Worth remembering that little trick.
Thanks Matt.
Thanks Matt.

Re: Coilovers
That’s a problem with diy. You often need a shed load of the right tools.
Then limited access if you are working off axle stands.
Then your labour time. Often ten times longer without the above facilities.
Having said that. I do understand the gratification you get from doing a good job.

For me, it's as much fun doing the work as it is owning the thing. Have 30 years of collecting tools I just use once so far, hope to get another 30, but we'll have to see.
This was last weekends job, which was quite enjoyable - new bracket for the landrover (they don't make those brackets that you can buy) and started removing the bulkhead to make more space inside it too.

Re: Coilovers
Really nice work Matt
Re: Coilovers
Do I need to make a note of which coilover when on which side of the car, which spring when on which coilover and what way round the springs went?

Re: Coilovers
Can't think that it would matter, but I would do that as a matter of course.

Re: Coilovers
Chris. Having gone to that trouble. I would find a grit blast cabinet and then give them a good paint job.
Nice work mate.

Re: Coilovers
I'm with Steve - you want them to go back on looking smart. I got all my springs & steel suspension arms (rear) powdercoated.
