Re: Coilovers
Well as I’ve got to wait until May to get my new coilovers I thought I’d persist on getting the nut of the shock. I’ve resorted to cutting the little <beep> off.

Re: Coilovers
Now you are almost there Chris.
Good clean up and a light coat of grease.
New nuts. Job done mate.

Re: Coilovers
Are you sure you tried lube Chris? looks very dry. I find Plus Gas works really well on stuff like that.

Re: Coilovers
Just make sure the male threads are cleaned up really well.
You don’t want to use any force at all installing the new nuts. Hand install only don’t use the spanner’s to get them on. If you have a tight spot unwind or remove the nuts and use the thread file where necessary.
If they are too tight going on they might grab.
Which means you will be back to where you started with seized nuts.
Hope this helps Chris.

Re: Coilovers
Thanks for the advice.
I spoke with a few people about the area that split. I was told that the part that’s moving is just a sleeve that the threads are cut on and that there’s no risk of fluid coming out the gap as that’s a separate cylinder within the sleeve. I’ve compressed the rod into the shock and no fluid is leaking. I guess I could seal the sleeve so that it’s fixed as it should be.
