Dyno run in February - priorities for logging?

Post by Lander91 » Tue Jan 04, 2022 10:03 am

Hi all, happy new year (hopefully)

I've got a run booked in Feb just to get an idea on the power being produced as I've not got anythig to compare to. I figure running VCDS to log some blocks wouldn't be a bad idea. Any suggestions as to which ones should be the focus given the context?

There's nothing really that you can't log when you are driving in real conditions. Just make sure that your engine isn't heat-soaked before you begin your first pull or you might be disappointed. You could log the air intake temps, I suppose. That's the challenge on a rolling road, getting enough cool air and cooling.

I would also immediately afterwards do some timed 30-160 kmh (or 120 or whatever) runs on a flat road so that you can compare later if you make changes or feel a change in power and think you are going mad. VCDS has tools for timing that use the vehicle speed sensor for consistency.

Thanks Shop, good point about the runs afterwards so I have a figure associated with a feel. Great advice as usual.

see this is where me7logger comes into it own (can log more than 4 values)

I would do

boost actual
boost specified
intake temp
knock/timing <beep>
