New RS6 owner!
Re: New RS6 owner!
No, it's the gear position switch.
You should get a Vagcom before you do anything else. It will pay for itself very quickly.

Re: New RS6 owner!
As noted above, this is commonly due to a faulty/failing F125 switch, which is a sort of sensor (1930s technology!) bolted on the side of the gearbox.
Known by various other names and can be a PITA to swap. So make sure first (with VCDS/Vagcom) what the issue is.
As also stated earlier, get a proper VCDS cable and run some diagnostics; that assumes you have a suitable laptop to take to the car and connect.
VCDS pays for itself over and over again, first tool you should get.
(VCDS was long ago called Vagcom)
Re: New RS6 owner!
Just run it in a virtual machine.

Re: New RS6 owner!
Or get a cheap old used laptop just for that job. Doesn't need anything special to say the least.
Re: New RS6 owner!
Yeah, cheap as chips, especially compared to the cost of a macbook!

Re: New RS6 owner!
My mate is sorting out a boot camp system for my MacBook.
VCDS ordered up from Ross tech I have also ordered a new F125 switch because I thinks it’s just best to get it replaced.
Interested to see how many codes I have

Re: New RS6 owner!
Well even if your F125 doesn't need replacing (yet) it's a handy spare to have.
And if you do replace it, open up the old one and see if you can work out what's wrong and fix it.

Re: New RS6 owner!
I get randon PRNDS light and its due to 5th gear solenoid according to VCDS this is after having a new F125 switch. Best get it scanned before firing up the parts cannon.
Avus Avant, RNS-E mk2 with sds and Bluetooth, Milltek, Hotchkis, Bilstein, Forge, ITG, A.C.E, Wagner, FBMFSW, MTM.
Re: New RS6 owner!
Anyone happen to know where I could find a replacement cover for my headlight switch? Thought I found one on eBay but turns out allot of the sellers flip the picture upside down to make it look like it’s the right one.
Also wanting to fix the worn out buttons on the heater control panel, any ideas? Stickers, buttons?

New light switch from Audi.
EBay got my unit (with good buttons) from Lithuania and cheap as chips.
10 mins to swop the buttons over.

I’ll try Audi but the switch has been discontinued and can’t get it anywhere.steve2003rs6 wrote:New light switch from Audi.

Seen some good heater units from Lithuania, probably same place you got yours.

Re: New RS6 owner!
Got mine from Audi last year iirc.
Had to buy the complete switch assy. Around £100 ish
Loads on eBay. But most of them are for LH drive vehicles.
At least they was when I was looking.
Failing that. Audi tradition. But they won’t ship to the uk.
What did the f125 switch cost. I presume you bought a new one. And where did you buy it from.
