19” Rotors

Post by ChrisA » Wed Nov 03, 2021 5:26 pm

I finally made my mind up with what wheel to put on the car and have brought Rotors. I was torn between the Rotor and LeManns but this set came up for a price I couldn’t resist.

The condition is fair with no impact damage to the wheels but, as usual, there is a little corrosion under the lacquer (worming). I intend to get them restored and when I do I’ll not be going for a diamond cut finish.

In all honesty I don’t know what they came off. They were fitted to a RS6 but have been in storage for a few years.

Had to replace mine a while back.
Had the originals straightened and one needed welding to a split. But they didn’t last long on our crap roads.
And the dreaded steering wheel vibration returned.
I bought my replacements for a crazy low price and they were as new so I just could not refuse.
I believe mine were off a S5. But totally different to yours Chris.

Does it make a difference what they’re from, how can you tell what they’re off?

I had just refurbished a set of 20” rotors for a customer but they were copies and had a crack. The crack put the final nail in the coffin for the 20” in my opinion. Annoyingly on the way to collect the wheels I hit a pot hole and burst the tyre. Thankfully it was the wife’s Skoda and had tyre insurance. Still going to complain to the council though.

I like a rotor. Mine are more gunmetal; the diamond cut edge seems to give another inch or so in diameter....who doesn't like an extra visible inch? :bigblink:

Is that the one that was originally sprint blue?

Nope. Originally Daytona (which I'd prefer) but the DPO decided to go nuts and give it a full respray in white. Did an excellent job tbf, the only area that's still Daytona is the firewall under the bonnet. All inner wings, under bonnet & tailgate, door shuts etc. are white. Bit marmite really as Audi never did a white RS6 C5 but it does look well when polished.

Had a freshen up couple of months ago, rear arches were showing a bit of scab.

That looks Very nice mate.
Had a previous car in white. Nightmare to keep clean. I said I would never ever have another white car.
But must admit they look great when freshly cleaned waxed and polished up.

Will do as soon as I’ve thrown some rubber on them. What it the boot of choice for the C5 RS6?

Oh and I detailed a TTRS that had put a dark satin grey all over their rotors yesterday. They looked very nice.

WeiB-sechs. Your RS6 looks great in white and is rare if not unique.

Chris. Michelin Pîlot Sport 4s work great on my car ( in summer ) Dunlop winters going on soon.
