Advice Please

Post by beatsyrs6 » Wed Sep 15, 2021 9:10 pm

Hi all,

Since picking car up at weekend I have noticed a small leak of something coming from front right hand side of car.
I have put a tray under it last 5 days and after 5 days this is what it has collected (see photo). But I’m at a loss, as it doesn’t smell like oil, and has quite a watery feel to it. Can anyone help a new member out, as want to try and get it looked at sooner rather than later, it’s not a major leak but want to get it sorted.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Beats

Isn’t it just condensate from the AC?

Or is it coolant. Could be the pipe from the oil filter housing. Known problem. Search for poosey pipe / Bufkin mod.

Not exactly scientific or really a good idea, but if you're game, coolant tastes a bit sweet.

I’ve tasted more dodgy fluids than I care to remember.

Not condensation as that’s leaving some nice watery patches and this is distinctly different, just can’t figure out what it is 🥸

Looks like I’ll be giving it a taste over the weekend then and see if it’s sweet or not 😅

Is there a link anywhere to what the Poosey pipe/ bufkin mod actually is, and what problem it solves ? I have had a look on the FAQ section but I can’t seem to find it (unless I’m not scrolling back far enough).

When you're on your back staring up at big, black, slippery..

..steering rack boot that's full of PS fluid, it's hard to avoid spillage.

Just seen them mate, and been reading about them, will hopefully be able to get a proper look at the issue this weekend and will get back to you, Thankyou. Think my car has the symptoms tho is it looks to be a very minor coolant leak. Are these a pain in the a** to install or will I be alright ?
