Squealing noise from engine (fixed)

I had an annoying intermittent squeal from the engine last time I went out, convinced myself it was the power steering pump on its last legs. Today I decided to investigate and try and fix it. Turns out the plastic idler pulley for the Aux drive belt has been moving on the bearing and rubbing on the engine block. Anyway 3 hours later and £40 to the Audi gods and its fixed.

Satisfying. And probably saved yourself a headache when it failed.

Not happy, genuine part only lasted 3 years. Good news still available for £58 now.

There seems to be quite a few after market ones available at a third of the price. This was genuine but stamped INA

Great job bilco on the idler pulley.
The intercooler setup looks cool.

On the price of parts. I am a firm believer that in general you get what you pay for. In the long run cheaper can cost you more in the end.
Unless of course parts have been tried and tested and recommended by someone in the know.

Well I have replaced pulley with another INA one from Ebay for £22. Looks identical to the original Audi one. Can almost buy 3 for the price of 1 from Audi. :audibash:
