Momentum used to have a minimal premium on top of regular Tesco 95RON, but I think it's increased recently.
I have no idea what the premium is for V-Power but Shell always starts at a higher price anyway and the add-on for 99 was typically double that of Tesco.
Given my nearest sensible petrol is at Tesco anyway it's rare that I by Shell these days.

Also, you're way more likely to be filling up with what you're paying for at Tesco (99 octane).
Apparently, as many Shell garages are franchised, you may or may not be filling up with VBastard...I think this has caught a few of MRC's customers out reading between the lines in discussions with Doug.

Haven’t used supermarket forcourts for years.
Used to check the storage tanks for water content in a previous job. That put me off.
Then a relative in a brand new merc was having problems.
Water was found in his fuel. He used to fill up at the supermarket.
So I have kept away. However that was some years ago. May be different now.
But I am still hesitant.

Since 2012 when I bought the 6 I have always used vpower.
Touch wood never had a problem.
On a very rare occasion I have had to fill up with something else cos I couldn’t find a shell station.
But not through choice.

So are we saying that momentum is now the preferred fuel. Judging by Mrc comments.

Well, pretty sure momentum used to wrot the fuel lines many years ago. Think the B5 lads used to have a lot of issues.
You're good filling up and busy petrol stations, they get filled up regularly so condensation issues should be lower.
I used to use Tesco in the RS6 cause that's what it was mapped on.
Use Esso 99 now cause there's a station close to me and is actually meant to be better than Momentum.
previous- Pug 205 gti, 306 gti, 309 gti Goodwood.
Audi S3, S4 V8 avant.
Porsche Macan Turbo.
Gone but NEVER forgotten - C5 RS6 Misano red avant.

Now - Empty garage

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there!

Ah ok dunc. Think I will stick with vpower. As I have never had any issues.
Unless I am convinced otherwise.
Mine was mapped at MRC Before I bought it.
But no idea what it was mapped on.
I just know the 6 runs smoothe on vpower.

Ive heard rumours Brussel wants to add a whole euro per liter to get us in electric vehicles.
Im afraid at some point the petrol powered vehicles are for the lucky few who can afford it, untill it is ridiculous expensive and those cars become garage queens/museum pieces to watch at like a van Gogh.

Well to me they are a piece of art. And I do look at mine like a Van Gogh.
Ps the water in the filling stations storage tanks isn’t just condensation.
We also used to dip the road tankers after they filled up at the refineries before delivery to the various petrol stations.

If the filling station storage tanks are kept topped up then it isn’t a problem.
However if the tanks are at a very low level. That’s when you can have a problem. Usually water is drained off at intervals.
Oil sits on water. So any water is at the bottom of the storage tanks.

Pps also used to calibrate the forecourt meters ,refinery flow meters and storage tanks for my sins.

I've always ran mine on VPower. Local filling station is fairly active so it should be fresh.

Yes suz. That’s my thoughts. As I said never had a problem with vpower.
So I will be sticking with it unless I learn otherwise.

I believe the forthcoming E10 change is only going to be on 95 Octane Unleaded. 98/99 Octane will remain E5 (for now at least...)

(Added on edit) - Above all basis the UK.

Just filled up (again)
Over here on the east coast vpower is 148.9 per litre.
Price per fun = well worth it
