Cost of filling up ?
Re: Cost of filling up ?
Momentum was 129.9/litre when I filled up over the weekend.
Only 1p difference to about 3 or 4 weeks ago iirc.

Re: Cost of filling up ?
Momentum is a lot cheaper then. I filled with VPower and it was nearly £1.54 a litre at the weekend.
Re: Cost of filling up ?
Yep, just checked online and it looks like the local Shell is 141.9/litre for Vpower.
North West area by the way...

Re: Cost of filling up ?
Suz. Yours is the most expensive so far.
Anyone paid more than £1.54 per litre.
If these are a 90 litre tank
= £ 138 For a full tank of vpower at 1.54/litre
That still doesn’t sound too bad.
However my first pay packet when I left school was
£4 10s 0d. For a 40 hour week.
So £138 was 7 months wages.
All of a sudden I feel very old.
But you could go on the piss on a Friday night for a pound and still have enough left over for fish and chips on the way home. Ah memories.

Re: Cost of filling up ?
Luckily my daily is pure electric otherwise I think I'd be very annoyed at the cost of transportation. £90 of electricity gets me 1500 miles or more!

Made my mind up to just enjoy these cars while we can.
However I have thought about getting a pure electric car for day to day.
But the 6 is just a pleasure to drive.
Re: Cost of filling up ?
I have a VW Polo for that. A daily driver, back and forth to work etc.... Also a convertible Golf. Neither have moved since the day I bought the RSsteve2003rs6 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 04, 2021 2:54 pmMade my mind up to just enjoy these cars while we can.

That’s my problem mark. Do not want to drive anything else.
The 6 is so addictive.

148.9 last week
150.4 today.
And we have two refineries on our east coast doorstep.
Yet it is cheaper north west at 141.9 ?
Some Arabs must be struggling and on there last billions.

Re: Cost of filling up ?
Watched guy Martin last night on electric cars.
Drove from Grimsby to John o groats.
Cost him £100:00 more in the electric car compared to his diesel car.
This was due to the high cost of quick charging the vehicle on route on motorways.
Also did a quarter mile speed race. Between a old vw beetle which was converted to electric.
Against a maclaren (575 I think)
The beetle was quicker over the quarter mile.
I guess the electric cars are ok for local travel. But at the moment not so good for a long journey.
He also had to faff about planning his route around available quick charging points on the map. Even then did not manage to maintain the range that was expected between charges.
I would expect this to change in the future with more charging points availability and lower costs per unit.

Unless there's a "battery swap" option, in the near future I think you're right.steve2003rs6 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 6:23 pmI guess the electric cars are ok for local travel. But at the moment not so good for a long journey.
Longer-term, if electric persists, we'll change our travel habits/patterns. All-day driving marathons may be an experience from history for our descendants ...….
Or vehicle ownership will become history too, we'll just jump in an autonomous vehicle and our luggage will be loaded up and transferred automagically to the next one when we take a "comfort break".

Re: Cost of filling up ?
Or perhaps hydrogen cars. At least you can have a drink from the exhaust if you get thirsty !
Re: Cost of filling up ?
The guy martin road trip thing was a load of guff. Nobody uses ionity without a manufacturer sub as they charge 69p a kWh. The normal Gridserve chargers are 30p and if you have a home charger you are paying about half that. Cheap over night rates are around 5p a kWh so you are looking at 2p a mile running costs. His figures didn't add up at all.
Hydrogen is a waste of time. Far less efficient than electric power and there's about 3 working public filling stations in the UK.
The electric car I have you set the destination and it does all the charge stops for you so you don't have to plan anything. Bit useless for Wales though as they are very short on charging.
Range figures are always the WLTP which is too slow and in good weather. The american EPA is actually a much better guide of what you should get at normal speeds.
