What part number did you end up with for the cables?

Ta. So that's a Quinton Hazell part no BC3861 , which cross references to Audi Part Number 4B0609721S.

What I reckon is that you've just found an alternative fitment part for a bit that is NLA from Audi and not cross referenced in the aftermarket (the cross reference lookups are often not quite right anyway - I used to work in a parts department for a caterpillar spare parts lot - often as not we'd have 2 boxes side by side in the warehouse that were the same part physically, but different numbers and no interchange "on paper")

Excellent job.

@Shopp - worth adding to the DIY post?

I had that Audi part number but with an A then AA then I think a P as well. The original was discontinued in 2007 according to the parts schematic thingy I found. It's like a trail of bread crumbs to find the ultimate replacement. One missing link and you're knackered.

I bet all the A6 Quattro ones fit. I'll put that ref in the DIY.
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
///M3 E46 | XC90 (V8, natch) | Passat GTE | RR Classic V8 flapper

Got it back. Rear suspension arms have both been powder coated and some other suspension arms also replaced. It's lost the rear end uncertainty it had before. Also had a total back end rebush with powerflex standard bushes.

Hopefully all that will last another 15 years and another 100,000 miles.
