Suspension ride height
Pss 9,s installed around two years ago and I am on 19 inch Michelin pilot sport 4S
Top of tyre to wheel arch is about 1 inch.
Should I raise the car to say 11/2 to 2 inch in order to improve the quality of ride on crap roads.
I read on here if the car is too low then you could be hitting the stops.
Or should I leave them as is ?

To raise the suspension, you compress the springs more which pushes the car up. This means that there is less available travel before the spring coils touch, effectively making them solid blocks and acting like a bump stop. I'd be surprised if you were hitting the bump stops unless you have an extreme height setting. Are you having any issues? If not, and you are happy with the height, leave it alone.

Hi Ben. Thanks for that. The only issue is on crap roads. Otherwise the set up is superb.
Read something on here which raised my concern.
So was just looking for some advice.
My ocd kicked in and I wondered if the car was too low.
It was set up when the bilsteins were fitted in Neston. Along with top mounts and bushes, upper and lower control arms and track rods.

Sounds like you have the same ride height as me. Nothing too radical, but enough to look decent.
I've had a full 5 people in the car and not once did it feel like it was hitting any bump stops. Although with the spacers (10mm) I'm sure there was a little rubbing here and there, but only over large dips in the road.
Sadly with the state of our roads, it's just something we have to live with unless you stick a set of 16Inch wheels and wrap them in balloon tyres

In my experience, to get an acceptable height, the lower spring is almost compressed to the max here with the Bilstein B16 pss9. FWIW with my current setting there isn't much space between the tyre and the arch, so having a higher ride would be almost impossible in my case.

^Same for me. I've got the car as high as I dare. It will bind on big dips or if I don't go slowly enough over speed bumps.
The lower spring is always fully compressed though, by design. Except possibly when the car is lifted off the ground.

The top of the wheel arch is at 66cm here, how high are you?

I wonder why is it so, the lower spring is useless that way.. Bad design?

It's just there to stop the main spring moving around if you take off over a humpback bridge.

On really poor roads I can hear the juddering and feel it at the steering wheel.
Almost like a machine gun going off

Trying to understand: the lower spring is not directly in contact with the main spring, there is a 'stopper' in between that can't be moved, or?

That's a seat that is centered on the keeper spring and separates it from the main spring. It's not anchored anywhere, though. It'll move with the keeper.
