I watched that & noted Matt mentioning something about holding one of the other torque converter boxes on the brake while revving, any advantage/risk with that?

I wonder how well a chipped C5 would do? Standard brakes seem a bit crap considering it's noticeably lighter than the others. I suppose later cars probably have the AEB slam on function now which would give you max death braking without having to stand on the brake and be almost of the seat to get that level of force.

This is what those mad yanks do https://www.rs6.com/showthread.php/2319 ... -rat-lives

Duck foot rat technique...something close to below.

Hold brake pedal with left foot. With right foot, rev engine to a comfortable point ~3k. Quickly do this a second time. You should notice/hear boost starting to spool. Quickly do this a third time, and when your revs are up, foot off the brake. All power/revs/boost should hit your driveline nice and hard.

I might do it on a rental but even then I’d probably grit my teeth.

Yeah, just felt wrong, years of timing the clutch release means it’s taking some time getting used to to just trusting the automatic, that and my inherent paranoia that the c5 gearbox is going to implode at some point means avoiding risky/abusive behaviour.

On my old Saab I could floor the throttle and it’d bring the revs up to about 2k and hold it there. And then when releasing the brake, the boost would instantly hit the red and off we’d go into wheel spin city.

I’ve never tried it on the RS though. IanH did once, with some GPS timing setup and a stage one tune. He got 3.89s 0-60

I have a similar tune, so I use the same numbers for pub talk.
