Headlight level sensor.
Hi everyone!
I replaced my front sensor the other day as the warning kept coming up intermittently and on removal it was definitely a goner. Problem is now that the warning is on permanently. The headlights have never seemed to adjust and the passenger side is fine but the adjuster on the drivers side is as in the picture. The wires look fine to the sensor too. Is there some check I can do to see if this new sensor is faulty or is there a way to not have one at all?

Re: Headlight level sensor.
What do the measuring blocks say for the 2 sensors? There's only one front and one rear. If you've got 2 at the front then there's something funny going on.

Re: Headlight level sensor.
There you go. Group 002. You've got 0.02V for the front and 4.22V for the rear. Both are bad values. They should be 2.5V with the car level and the suspension at its normal height.
First thing to do is check that they've been fitted properly. It's very common for people to put them on back to front, with the lever round the wrong way, when they mess with the suspension.
Then, if it were my car, I would disconnect both sensors from the suspension arm and test the range manually. Make sure it goes from 0 to 5v when moving it with my fingers.
If not then you need to investigate the wiring. There are 3 wires going to them IIRC. Ground, +5v and the return. Make sure you've got the 5v and that the ground is OK, then check the sensor is outputting coherent voltages when powered.

Re: Headlight level sensor.
In your 2nd picture it looks like the bracket is not in the right place. At least compared to mine:
Don't think your problem is coming from there, though. 0.02V looks like an electrical problem.

Re: Headlight level sensor.
Sanity check: those readings are with the car on the ground and level, right?

Re: Headlight level sensor.
Sorry Shop I hadnt had a chance to reply yet. Those readings were with that corner on a stand so these readings are with it level and me sat in it. I did attach it in the same place you showed as I realised there are indentations to keep it in place.

Is that reading with the wheels on the ground?

Re: Headlight level sensor.
There’s a problem then. One’s reading way too high and the other zero.
Unclip them and test by moving the lever by hand. Should read 2.5 in the middle of the range.

Re: Headlight level sensor.
I unclipped the front one and moved it up and down and it made no difference to the readings. Tbh I dont have a clue where the rear one is or which side as it wasnt throwing a fault so my main concern was the front. If you have any pointers that would be handy. I did have suspension replaced last year so maybe that has affected it but as I said I dont think my headlights have ever levelled really as they have always been pretty dipped for the last 11 years.

Re: Headlight level sensor.
I had to replace the rear one a couple of years ago. Got a new one from AMD.
