B7 RS4 comparison
Watching the news and seeing the UK has got me homesick for the UK and thinking about when I (sometime) move back..... None of the other 'modern' RS Avants has taken my interest except the B7 RS4. One of these, with their manual box, driving feedback and possibly supercharged sounds interesting.
Different age, different size, (standard) normally aspirated, so I know it's different.
Has anyone owned both?
Is it the event that it is when you drive our RS6's?
Any other feelings about both?

Re: B7 RS4 comparison
I did a mini review comparing the B7 to the C5. I’ll try to dig it out later.

Is it the fire bombs in NI or the North Korean-like media blackout on Brexit effects and enforced royal mourning that’s got you feeling nostalgic?anditsoundslikebells wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 3:09 pmWatching the news and seeing the UK has got me homesick for the UK

I also found it and a few other comparisons, thanks Shop.
Well, you nailed it, through all the rubbish I still long for home. Or, if not the UK, then somewhere where the weather is better and there is some topography.

Re: B7 RS4 comparison
My curiosity took over to the B7 RS4 section and their buying guide.
I saw you there Shop! back in 2011
Were you considering one back then?
I have to say with a supercharger they sound interesting.
Somehow ours seem more 'special' though. Maybe it's because the C5 was the first RS I really knew about. With all the new RS models driving around, the B7 looks similar to them and not as 'special' as ours. Or it's all in my head.

Re: B7 RS4 comparison
Don’t think I’ve ever seriously considered one. To be honest I prefer the B8.

Plus so many of them were raced by idiots and criminals with no care or thought as to looking after them so there are many well worn dogs rolled in glitter.
Couple that with the now limited number of c5’s make them a bit more special. I’ve only ever seen a couple on the road

Re: B7 RS4 comparison
With the B5 / C5 range being the first 4 and 6, They had that mystique of Cosworth participation, far better build quality and very limited availability. In Australia there are in the order of 40 B5 and 27 C5 for the whole country (plus a few imports over the years). I live in an area with a population of some 350,000 and there are many more RS3 just in my city than B5 RS4 in the whole country. RS6 of any version are rare though.
Re greener grass, nowhere is perfect. I've lived in Germany, France and UK but never for long enough to have done everything I wanted. Once done I'd probably want to move on, but to where. OZ is a great place and lots from all over the world want to call it home but I've travelled the entire country and there is very little new left to do here. A perennial problem for many of us.
