Re: Brake pads
Cool cheers. Does it matter which nipple on front corners is done first
Re: Brake pads
Start on the inside I guess. I always end up doing them twice before I'm satisfied anyway.

Re: Brake pads
Expert, no, successful, yes. Shoppinit has written a bit on this in various threads. I read up all the words on here before tackling mine to make sure that there weren't some gremlins waiting to pounce.Human Joist wrote: ↑Mon Mar 15, 2021 12:36 pmOn this brake chat is there a special way to bleed the brakes on our car. I read a link on here for a site and it got me
Confused. Any experts on ?
1. You need a pressure bleeder. Plenty on here about choices. I have a vacuum bleeder as well but wouldn't choose to use it on this. I used two litres of pentosin. Makes sure that you use something that is compatible with the fluid in the system. You won't clean out an incompatible fluid with just a fluid change and bleed.
2. The pressure needed varies, I used 10-15 psi with great success and others have said more is needed. If your reservoir is old / very old, take great care as it may fracture with pressure.
3. The order as Shop said works albeit not the intuitive order from more basic systems. I used his order.
4. While I emptied the reservoir, I wouldn't do that again.
5. You do not need to cycle the ABS with VCDS as you may on other models.
6. Test the brakes and pedal feel on completion. You'll know if you got it right or have to do it again.

Re: Brake pads
Thanks shopp. I eventually recalled a conversation I had with grizz.
He recommended them to me while I was at unit 22 having the pss9,s fitted and new rear discs calipers and pads installed.

Front and rear pads arrived. Now looking for front discs.
Don’t know why they are so expensive.

Re: Brake pads
Has yours the cross drilled discs?
I think I'm enjoying my project- certainly looking forward to driving it and taking mother in law out again in it.

Re: Brake pads
I prefer the non-drilled. Unfortunately the C6 only has drilled but half of the holes are fake.

Re: Brake pads
Yes I am currently still on crossed drilled discs.
Hoping to stay similar if poss.
Need to go out out and get a new vernier to check the size of the ones on the car. Judging by the lip I think I am close to minimum size.

Re: Brake pads
Ordered these back in December, took approx 2 weeks to arrive. Seems like they've gone up a tenner from what I paid but still not bad.

Cheers mate. The prices for the Zimmerman are good.
Previously have always stayed with genuine discs. But the prices now are bordering on crazy.
Over £1 k each
Found some at £760 ish each in Lithuania. Then £200 delivery.
Zimmerman new 34 mm thick. 32.4 mm min.
Need to check this against genuine discs.
