Parking sensors seem to be playing up. Listening carefully to each gives a clicking noise. I get a short low tone and a longer high tone when engaging reverse or pressing the button.

High tone is front sensors, low tone rear sensors. Long beep indicates fault with a sensor IIRC. Vagcom will tell you what and which sensor.

Vagcom ordered…

I’m expecting some gremlins after years of inactivity. Climate control panel fan down button and the front left window switch on drivers door panel seems to be malfunctioning. Window switch will operate down but not up.

Leaned over and used passenger one. New aftermarket switch £10 or so. Guessing it’s a door panel off job?

Can use the auto button to adjust fans to some extent, the panel is cosmetically perfect. Job for the future.

I think you can get the switches out without removing the door card. Pretty sure I replaced mine that way.

VCDS arrived this morning.

It found a number of historic error codes, which could have related to low voltage issues when the battery was dead or dying. I've cleared them all and will check back to see how many have come back.

The parking sensor problem has revealed the culprit.

1 Fault Found:
01625 - Front Parking Aid Warning Chime (H22)
31-00 - Open or Short to Ground

New mirror glass ordered from Mirror John, hopefully get that next week.

He has a fast turn-around usually.

Odd fault code to have. Change the chime, I guess.

I presume the front one is located in the front of the car. #11 on the attached? Seems to be the same unit front to rear.

Update:

Three tanks of fuel in and all seems to be working.

Interior mirror replaced with a new one from MirrorJohn.
Drivers window control switch replaced with a pattern part one from Ebay, new. £ 10 inc postage.

Still need to replace the parking sensor bonger, need to get some radio release keys.

A/C seems to have stopped blowing cold, but the ECON light hasn't come on.

Probably the brake light switch put the warning light on. Although you could have a vac leak, judging by the SAI code, which could put the light on.

Are you still on the original braided rubber vac hoses?

I’d change the brake light switch. I can’t think of a reason why a DTC would be logged against it unless it was failing or you’d been messing around with it.

I suspect I'm on the original vacuum hoses. I've not looked to see where the pipes are and where they go to.

I've just fitted a new brake light switch. GSF had one for £ 8.60, so I'll try that. It was a bit different to the one that came out, but had the same fitting and electrical connector. I have brake lights when I press the pedal, so its doing something...

Lets see if that fixes the fault.
