Just waiting for some paint to dry on the rear anti-roll bar bracket and then the suspension is all done. I/We (must credit my colleague Jules who helped) found it easier to drop the lower wishbone slightly to get the original damper out.

Next jobs is to tidy up / blank off the original DRC pipes and then tackle front LH CV boot.

Still undecided on radio systems. I like the OEM look of the RNS-D but have been spoilt by DAB and Apple Carplay in the Toyota Sera.

Took car for a short test drive around the village common. Seem to have a binding rear brake caliper so will take wheel off and investigate.

Some spare time this weekend, so aim to do front CV boot, look at binding rear caliper, to refit front undertray and to tidy up whats left of the DRC system thats attached to the car.

I've ordered one of those Metra head unit housings, as I'm still not sure what to do about radio system.

I would (and do) keep the OE head unit. Keep it original. I just use it as an amp for my iPhone anyway.

Current car has Apple Carplay so have been spoilt somewhat. Choice of up-to-date sat nav systems, phone sync, messaging via Siri, integration with BBC Sounds app, Audible.

I couldn't keep with the original unit either. It just doesn't do anything I need either. It's just one of those things that is very easily dated. I couldn't do without google maps, spotify etc...

Next on my list of wants is to sort the speakers out as the Bose system is extremely lacking. But I'm unsure to just try a speaker change or if I should go the whole hog with Amp and sub replacement also. I want to keep the boot useable, so like the idea of the Bose system being all tucked away, I would like to replicate that if possible.

I had the RNS-E with Bose, and it sounded very flat, swapping the head unit for an Alpine iLX-702D has made a huge difference without touching the Bose system.

The Pioneer in my Toyota Sera has time alignment which made a big difference when I set that up. A microphone is positioned where the drivers head would be, and it delays the sounds from the closest speaker by a fraction of a second so that all the sounds arrive at your head at the same time.

CV boot done. Straightforward as per DIY thread. Was on my own today so final torquing delayed until I have more bodies.

Caliper tomorrow

Quick question. What is this in the drivers door shut area? Should it be covered ?

It’s the button to deactivate the interior monitoring (alarm). Looks like you need a new button.

Rear caliper freed off and another lap of the village green driven. The pads were getting pretty thin, so I've put a set of the most expensive regular pads in for now. The calipers themselves could do with a refurb, so I think phase II of ownership will be to get some replacement rear calipers, fit those with a new pair of discs and some decent pads.

Booking MoT tomorrow.

Immediate job list now pretty short.
- refit undertray
- fit alarm button
- adjust wipers so that maximum sweep is closer to edge of screen
- add a hidden auxiliary power socket that is ignition fed rather than permanent live
- plus anything else that the MoT man picks up.

Cost per mile driven is currently £ 3459 - hopefully that will drop considerably over the next few months and years!

I put one in the glovebox for my GPS repeater.

I used the little recess next to the owner manual stowage for a dual usb plus cigarette plug fitting. Out of the way and sight but accessible and I wanted a plug on the right of the steering wheel too.

I want to install a dashcam, just before Christmas I was in my Toyota Sera and was reversed into by someone at the traffic lights, and it was dashcam footage that settled the argument of was it me driving into him or the other way round. I also want to install a phone cradle somewhere and sometimes its just useful to have a power socket that is ignition fed and not on all the time.

I can see value in both places, but I think drivers side is more useful.

MoT tomorrow morning. Fingers crossed.
