Yeah, I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t such a biatch to replace! My car did not appreciate being left in my friend’s garden over the winter. :-/

I'm sure it's been covered before but, out of interest & a failing memory, what issues does a faulty F125 display? Just to fuel my paranoia lol.

Usually a problem selecting drive, neutral or reverse, then all the gear lights come on.

My car doesn't like reverse when the engine is cold. Its fine when everythings warmed up.

I guess your mother in law likes you! You're going to end up with a very nice cheap car. Makes all the difference if you have the skill & time to do much of the work yourself.

Well done.

Yes, if I was paying someone to do it, or charging my time the costs would have been very different! I've not been keeping a log of time spent on it, but I'd say probably 60-70 hours.

I changed the F125 switch this afternoon.

I read the Elsawin instructions which made it sound straightforward.
I read the DIY guide which made it sound difficult.
I resorted to the belt sander method to trim the gearbox mount, loosened the other bracket and swapped them over. I refitted with M6 screws as there isn't much room for a Torx bit.

As my car showed problems with neutral and reverse from a dead cold start, I'll find out tomorrow morning if its cured the problem.

Noticed that the drivers side front CV boot has failed. Have done the passenger one already.

Is that just because step 1 of elsawin is "Remove Engine"?

Had to drive to Yorkshire yesterday and back today. 7 hour round trip. Averaged 28.0 mpg

Wasn't in a rush, so hit speed limit and stuck cruise on.

One year on from our first MoT together, today was its second MoT. Pass, no advisories. 9924 miles covered between MoTs.
The only problems I've had over the year has been a pair of CV boots, the brake light switch packing up, and the gearbox selector switch.
Biggest expense: fuel!

Nice. That's quite a decent number of miles there! A fair few litres of V-Barstard.

9924 is close enough to 10,000. Fuel consumption is 20mpg, so thats 500 gallons, 2273 litres at £ 1.65 = £ 3750.

Ouch.

£1.65 - That's just the cheap one. 98 RON is more at £1.80- £1.85
