Leak

Hi folks,
I'm new to the forum, as I've just bought a 2004 RS6. The car is in superb condition, with 73,000 miles and has been really well maintained.
However, it has a bad water leak, which has already cause problems with the comfort module (which had to be replaced). Water is leaking into the passenger (UK car) footwell. I've had the car checked by a local Audi specialist who has checked all the usual points which might lead to this leak, but all the drains are clear. He did point out that the front windscreen had been replaced and it doesn't look like it was done properly.
These pictures show the bottom of the screen at the edges.
My garage said the passenger side hole was likely leaking onto the pollen filter and then getting inside. I spoke to the local Audi dealer, but they were useless, saying they didn't know what a 2004 RS6 should look like, as they don't see cars of this age.
Does anyone know what it should look like. It certainly looks to me like water is pouring in this hole.
Can anyone help? BTW, the person who sold me the car has agreed to pay for what is required to fix it.
Thanks
Gus

Yeah, that's almost certainly the source of your leak. Probably not the proper UV shielded windscreen either I'm betting.

Thanks. I've ordered a new screen anyway.

Also a good move to order a new plastic trim (approx £100) that fits into the bottom of the windscreen. Looking at your photo it looks like your trim is missing a section or two.
I have just had a new screen fitted. Then found the trim was broken. PO had fitted the trim using silicone.
Causing a delay while Audi got me another one. The trim is very fragile.
The first one arrived broken from Audi.
The second one had a slight crack but was intact and a easy repair.
You have to remove the wipers to remove the old trim and fit the new trim.
It’s a bit fiddly as you have to align and push in and up at the same time. And as I said it’s very fragile.

I replaced mine last year and the first one from TPS was broken, bet they just sent it back to Audi then you got it

I recommend heating the plastic up (hot water or hot air gun on low) before fitting or do it on a hot summers day.

Thanks guys. Can someone post a picture of what the trim should look like at the bottom of the window?
Thanks

No one got a pic they can post?
I've got Autoglass coming to fit a new screen, but I'd like to know what it should look like.
Thanks

My screen goes down further than yours. Goes down behind the trim. It looks like your screen is too short and they've added in a strip that they've siliconed, but that the strip isn't even long enough.

Thanks very much, that's very helpful. My screen is obviously not right, so hopefully Autoglass will have the correct one next week.

Can't fit over to the other side elf the garage, but both corners look the same.

Your looks different to mine
Shop. Whilst mine does have a small gap at each end it isn’t as large as the OPs. I did also have a leak, but that was more down to the seal on the underside of the pollen filter and the housing had cracked. You scuttle cover is different but is that because yours is a LHD?

Yeah, probably.
But Lander's isn't and his looks like mine (in a mirror).

Can you take a photo of yours, nobby? I’m curious to get to the bottom of what’s going on.
I wonder if there are 2 different sized screens depending on model.

I'm not at work, but from memory I think our cars have a specific part #. If no real answers by Monday, and our screes do indeed have a specific number, I can take some physical measurements of a genuine screen. Could be useful for future reference when dealing with the general muppet population.
