Neither, my screen is fine (for now). The screen is in stock (5 or 6) at the national the Audi genuine parts warehouse, got this one down off the racks just to measure up for you. Pilkingtons is printed on the screen.
You've got 5 or 6 RS6 screens in NZ? Wow, our stock is in Singapore and can be hard to access at times.

We run quite a comparatively low stock turn for the industry as a distributor. Part of the reasoning is that were so far away from anything. Case in point, the covid disruptions to supply chain didn't have much effect on our 1st pick supply %, and we've dropped our stock turn even further since August '20. But in terms of the windscreens, our aged inventory management is a tad biased against writing off RS product.

Also I'm a magpie for RS parts, e.g I bought damn near all of Singapore's stock of the genuine oil filters for the BCY, because AFAIK they've been dropped, and I dunno when Audi tradition will have stock (I saw 120 odd in Mexico I think).

Nah. Mexico ? Or a slow boat from China.
The 4-5 weeks delivery suits me. Going to Neston on 6/7/21 and don’t want to get another stone chip on the new screen on the m6 motorway.
If I get another one on my current screen then it won’t matter. Already collected 3 chips and it was only fitted a few months ago.
Guess I am just lucky ?

Ps. Audi contract out the fitting. They are going to let me know who their preferred installers are.

There's lot of parts I reckon having some stock of is well worth it. But oil filters?
They are literally the easiest to get high quality aftermarket versions.
That's proper magpie. :biggrin3:

Indeed, and possibly even better. But aftermarket is aftermarket, and these only cost me $8 NZD each 8)

Ja! Like f'ing brakes. I'm planning to use discs from another Audi model that only require a slight adjustment of the caliper, but will cost half the price.

Honestly though, my job is the only way I managed to get the boss to sign off on the purchase :|

Call from Audi this morning. Windscreen arrived.
That didn’t take 4-5 weeks.
Audi recommended A1 windscreens to fit the screen.
Will Get it installed next week after I get back from unit 20.

Having paid a premium price through Audi for a quality windscreen replacement.
Is there anyway I can tell that it is a genuine product. And not a cheap screen that has been inflated by the supplier.
Eg any markings I should look for on the glass.

Originally Audi quoted £550 with 4-5 weeks delivery
Just paid Audi £432 and it arrived in 5 days
Both the above prices exclude fitting which is around £120:00.

I'd explain the situation with Audi and/or the sublet/contractor. Though if Audi is arranging it you should only be on contact with them. Ask that the screen is available for viewing before it's installed e.g when you drop the car off, and explain that the replacements to date have been dodgy and you want piece of mind.

Pilkingtons are the manufacturer on the screens we have, though the screen on my 6 is Sigla. Also there should be the rings logo where the manufacturer stamp is, bottom left I think.

Thanks for your response lander. The fitter will be coming to my home to install the screen.
So I will be present when it is done.
Audi gave me the option. Install at there place or have it done at mine.

Last time the fitter didn’t remove all the old bonding.
This left a small gap at the bottom of the windscreen and the dashboard. Causing a vibration noise.
I placed a section of wiper blade between the screen and dash which eliminated the noise.
So this time I will be looking for the fitter to remove as much of the old bonding as possible.

The screen was also the wrong size. I now have a small gap at each end of the screen about 25 mm long.
Even with a new plastic water deflector installed.
So this time will measure both screens. Hopefully the new one is a bit wider than the old one.

As it stands I have not noticed any water ingress to the interior.
But it isn’t right and it looks naff.

Any tips on how to remove the old bonding
Just in case the windscreen fitter cannot or doesn’t want to remove it all ?

I just want the job done right this time around.

Had mine replaced and the new one seems to short. Can't get the bottom bit to clip on as its up against the wipers. Interested to know the measurements of the original RS6 one as well.

Hi gregstv. My water deflector does clip on to the bottom of the screen. But only just.
I always thought replacing a screen was a fairly painless job on a car.
How wrong that thought was.
Hopefully (fingers crossed) a better experience this time.
At least I will be there this time.
I can only tell the fitter what is wrong with the fitment of the current screen. Then hope he listens and does a good job.

A bit concerned with Audi telling me the new screen would take 4-5 weeks delivery.
Then it arrives in 5 days.
