in reply to Foxmeister (forgot to press the reply button) :bash:

Went for the Expert PS 165F kit

Now they're run in they don't half sound decent! They're on the rear doors, I got ground zeros on the front, and used a lot of sound deadening stick on silver stuff to make the doors sound like a tank when you close them lol!

But fitting the door panel on after fitting those ground zeros (similar spec to the focals) was nigh impossible! Managed it in the end but was a job n a half as the speakers are slightly too large for the enclosure!

Just an update, that I have still not heard back from the garage after I popped in a few weeks ago to talk about the leak.

I'm wondering how long I should leave it before contacting them again. Wonder how far I can go ? Haha

On a couple of side notes.

I have noticed my car has been handling rather badly since I picked it up. Went to the Cotswolds over the bank holiday so wanted to double check the pressures in the tyres. Was rather dumbfounded to find them all at 50PSI ! So that would account for the crap handling then... All back at about 42 now and much better !

And second side note.... My outside temp reader was reading 29C, even though it was only about 23 outside. Is this something that could have been messed with when they did the belts ? On my VR6 the sensor was mounted into the bumper. Any ideas where it might be on the RS and if it's worth me getting them to look at it ? I never noticed any issues before the belts were done.

Oh and thirdly.... Noticed my handbrake pulls nearly to it's upper limit. Are they auto adjusting ? It's had new pads and a caliper. Again, never had this before they did the work, it would go 2-3 clicks and thats all. Now I have to almost lift the arm rest to put the hand brake on :-(

Needless to say, they will never be doing any work on my car again and I won't be sending anyone I know there.

What a <beep> show. I wouldn’t even bother trying to contact them again.

The outside temp gauge is pure fantasy on the RS6. Just ignore it.

I can’t remember how the handbrake adjusts on the RS6. I’m getting confused with all the other cars I’ve done it on recently. Each with its own stupid automatic ajuster system. Don’t think it’s particularly difficult though. I’ll have to look it up.

How you getting on with this?

/also, I need some decent mole grips. I’ve got a large facom which is excellent and one of the best tools I’ve bought but I need one for smaller jobs and the smaller facom don’t look impressive. Any recommendations?

Yup, I've got the ones without the plastic covers. You won't go wrong with those, most folk at my work have them, mine have taken some abuse and are still tight.
You can get a pack of 4/5, good range of size then mate.

Still haven't heard a peep from them. Going to give them till Monday and will then call and raise a bit of a storm. I've honestly never dealt with such a bad garage in all my time.

I'm also unsure if I am hearing a slight knocking sound from the drivers side front. Only really notice it when going slowly and the windows are open. Sounds like something is rattling. Like a ball joint, but not as bad. Maybe loose intercooler or something similar ? I wanted to have a check over the weekend and see if I can wiggle anything, another reason I wanted to wait till Monday. It's only since it's gotten hot, with the windows down that I noticed it.

Stay well clear mark. I wouldn’t want them touching the car again. Even if they look at it free of charge.
Put it down to a crap experience and move on to someone you can trust.

Yeah, I am toying with the idea of not going back, but then part of me is thinking "I've paid for this" So I want it right.

Yes I can understand that thought.
Then I think what else will they bugger up whilst they have got their hands on it.
Seriously mark go elsewhere. It will be cheaper in the end
I have lost count of the number of local garages that I have used and swore that I will never go back there again.
Some garages cause more problems than they fix.
Especially garages that are not familiar with our cars.
Cut your losses mate.

I think with these cars you need to learn and do as much as possible yourself. I dropped mine in to have the brake fluid changed to a euro specialist dye to not having the pressure bleed kit and them quoting $80. Get it back and the front tyre has a chunk out of it and the new $1100 under belly is cracked. I would say they drove into the hoist to fast. It was a month after the work I noticed the problem so couldn't go back at them. Never again will the car go anywhere.

Or, just go with what's recommended on here by many!
Problem is, 90% of the time the cheapest price ends up being more than the "expensive" price when the job is finally finished.
Really hard to find anyone reliable to do ANYTHING.
