Winter

Post by Mɐʇʇ » Fri Jan 15, 2021 10:23 am

My car is now wrapped up for the winter with the ctek plugged in, cover on - although I expect I'll need to use it occasionally.

Anyway, the difference this year is I've put a 500W oil filled radiator in it too - I noticed last winter that, as many of us have found, the rear section of my headlining dropped and a little mould had appeared on the steering wheel, come the spring. Anyone else have a radiator in their car over the winter? I'm not keeping it "hot", but just a few degrees above ambient stops any condensation or damp.

That's a good idea. Don't you keep it in the garage though?

I'm worried about mine because it's been outside in my friend's garden for months. I'm expecting to see the headlining sag next time I check it. :( I'll find out in a couple of weeks, then I can put the car back in the garage.

Think I'm going to do like you with the heater, Matt.

Yup, it's in the garage. I recommend oil filled radiators, not convection heaters. It's a "soft" heat they provide.
Alternative, some of the carbon panel heaters are great, but also a lot more £

Is your friends garden as a function of the house move?

Love the cover.

Yeah, new house won't ready for a couple of weeks. Poor car. It's the only time it's ever spent outside since I've owned it.

It's a C6 cover I found on ebay. Fits the C5 perfectly now I've switched to a stubby aerial.

How I wish I had a driveway wide enough to get my car to the garage. My car has to sit on the drive all year in all weathers.
I do have a small garage but cannot get to it.
Would love to buy 2 foot of my neighbors garden. But cannot see that happening.

Think I need one of those covers in my life. Damn you, Matt.

Love it. If a french stunt driver can do that in a articulated truck.
I should be able to do it in the RS6
