Electrical systems that are too smart for their own good

A bit of a "would you believe it" tale. Temps are getting up and the AC is being used. Stopped in Traffic yesterday and I could see the cars reflection in the rear of a van. The Philips led DRL's that I fitted some time ago weren't illuminating. Turned them off and on and they just flashed on an off again.

Long story short, the controller automatically turns the lights on when it sees a predetermined voltage, and off when the voltage drops below a certain value. When the car is idling with AC and lights on the voltage drops far enough to turn off power to the lights.

Luckily the wiring options include for stop/start cars and wired in that configuration, the lights stay on.
