New Wheels Question
New Wheels Question
Sooooooo - i got myself a set of 19" MTM Alloys. Tyres on them will be 275/30/19
Apparently I have to grind some knobbly bit - any pics of which part of the suspension it is ?

Re: New Wheels Question
See the word grinder and thought I'd throw in a few crumbs. Make sure that you leave no sharp edges or gouges after you've removed the knob. They can be stress raisers and a start point of failure if done wrong. I finished mine with hand files and paper and kept large radius curves. Might sound a bit pedantic but you wouldn't think that if you ever had an upright fail.

Re: New Wheels Question
That'll take some time if it's like my dremmel. It is soothing to be able to see a ray of sunshine between the tyre edge and the upright though, even if it is knobless.

Re: New Wheels Question
I had a set of the mtm bimotos, bought them second hand. They appear to be made from cheese and dent/buckle at the slightest bump. I think the softness is a common thing if you google it - shame as the look great. From memory of used a spacer on mine, not sure of this was for the rubbing or as I run a C6 front brake set up?
Re: New Wheels Question
that's worrying - with my luck I will bend them within months
And I already have 10mm distances on mine.

Re: New Wheels Question
The forged ones are much stronger.

Re: New Wheels Question
I know the forged are about 3 x the price, do you know how to spot them from the normal ones? Mine were definitely not - also note the 20” are listed on QST at £1,585 inc vat for a set - I seem to remember them being more like double that!?? As I say I really like the look of them just the set I had was bent (and from memory pretty heavy)
Re: New Wheels Question
Hi,
I've got a set of those mtm bimoto, and am very happy with them, both for the look & feel. Tyres are 255/35/R19 here and no grinder job was needed to get a perfect fit and stance.
As far as their strength is concerned they are very solid to my taste (they are rated for a 765kg weight per wheel), but I must confess I finally succeeded to warp one on a (massive) pothole this summer, couldn't find a worse one. Made me buy a spare one that will soon be sent for repair.

Re: New Wheels Question
OK so Finally
Wheels picked, refreshed and with a brand new set of 275/30/19 MPS4S
So to have the wheels fit had to actually remove the 10mm Spacers and obviously grind down "the knobbly bit". With the spacer they came out too far out
