There is the Collecting Cars auction type site to sell it on. That might be one to try. Higher class than fleabay. https://collectingcars.com/
Holy sh*t. Didn't know that site existed. Looks like I know what I'm doing for the next hour or so.

Because Shopp, I wouldn't stop at just the gearbox. If I was going to do the box, I would do it properly, so looking at 5k+ there and then I will just do everything else. With my retarded brain it has to be all, or nothing at all and I have no time to sort it all, let alone blowing what could easily be 15k by the time I am finished, on my 17-year old car.
Current:

Then perhaps the best thing to do is rip the plaster off. Make the best advert you can, sell it for £5k if you can and move on.

Looks like you have made your mind up on what’s best for you.
Hope you get a good deal in the near future.
Good luck

Footers, I remember when you bought it and all the work you had done at MRC, the brake upgrades with Chunky & Bam and the banter & when your Dad redesigned your rims & when you <beep> yourself on the pilot super sports in the wet!
Won't be the same without you, maybe you should throw a few more grands at it, still probably going to be less than the depreciation on something newish, assuming you still like it.
Sounds like family and work life are stressing you, maybe you need a break.
Shame I can't jet you & family off somewhere anymore.
Good luck, whatever you decide.

Cheers guys. Ric, work always sucks and it is a job that I can't ever take a day off from, nice thought tho ;).

I still can't find the right spec of replacement car that I want and due to not wanting to potentially tie myself in to a £60+k car purchase when I keep dreaming of leaving my job, I keep holding off buying another car.

I have bitten the bullet and contacted Sportmile to see what options they may still potentially be able to do, as if the gearbox is coming out, like hell will I be slapping in a bog standard box without putting up a bit of a fight first. If by some fluke the costs are not beyond comical, I will throw a load of cash at her to get us through another 12 months and then see where we are at.

I don't care that there are loads of cars around these days that are stupid fast, with a working gearbox and the power upped, this old girl is still a total weapon in a straight line once rolling.

Selling her for £5k just isn't worth my time and I can't bring myself to sell her for so little, well, this week at least, let's see what next week brings after I have some quotes to get all the work done properly.....

@Tony - We are very similar.
@Footlong - I know a man who knows a man - if you want to pop your one into storage for a while, indoors, secure, but cheap too - let me know and I'll see if I can hook you up. It's over in Odiham,.

OK for those that scratch the itch and move on, they may be car enthusiasts but not RS6 enthusiasts.
Downside, nowhere near as well made in my view.
For me, I do all my own work and have the time to do it.
Matt- could you possibly email contact details for your car storage solution- i need somewhere to store a car. Thanks mate. I will PM too incase you don't see this.

Mr Footlong= Keep it. :)

Yes. Keep her spend a bit and enjoy. So pleased you are not letting her go for 5K. She would have been dismantled and sold for spares.
When up and running I don’t know of any other car matching it.
Well done for not letting her go.

Lol, spend a bit.... I have already spent well north of 30k in upkeep and mods since I bought her and now looking down the barrel of another 15k+ quite easily for this work, for what at the end of the day is a 17 year old Audi that you can hardly get the parts for. If I didn't love my wife so much I would bump her off, as she is the reason I keep having to deal with this car crap!

Just park the car where it can't be seen from the kitchen.

Ha ha. I always park the car where I can look at it. It always makes me smile. They have so much appeal and presence. If I could park it in the bedroom I would.
Foot long. I haven’t spent anywhere near as much as you. Around half. But I am slowly getting there. And it has been spread out over 8 years.
Ps what else can you drive for the same money that can give so much pleasure.
