http://www.transcentre.co.uk/ did my box, they were good and did offer an uprated TC too. Obviously I've not spoken to them since 2015 - but I was very happy with their service & knowledge.
Same here (via Unit 20). Wasn't made aware of the uprated TC though; I'd be interested in learning more as my recon isn't playing nicely atm....I'll give them a call.

Footers,

Why dont you give Radoslaw at http://www.autotransuk.com . He's down the road at Wembley, claims he will upgrade your box and rebuild in a few days. Cost about £1500 (assuming it's out the car). He used to have a C5 RS6

Found him helpful and seemed to know his stuff.

Good luck

Found your "on-hold" PM and replied to it Ric, thanks! I haven't contacted him yet, but after a week of trying to get anything resembling info on what work could be done (or just any replies at all) from a few different international custom box specialists, I got pissed off and bought another car to make sure we were fine come Winter.
Murdered out 2016 Merc GLS 63 AMG, with almost all the options (courtesy of the Russian Mobster owner) and only 22k miles on it. Boxy and bland backside, but will do the job for us for a while.

I don't know what I am doing again now, but when I have some time I will once again weigh things up.

Do like those Merc’s! Can I ask why you got rid of the c7?

Sorry Jay, that image you attached of the chat never showed up before now for me. They actually just got in touch today, but that ship may well have sailed now. There were a couple of reasons behind selling the C7:

1. I hated the air suspension, the bogging down on the rear end and the front lightening up as a result of the mass shift when really hammering it was just not great. I grew accustomed to it, but never liked it. Upping the power just made the issue even more noticeable. At around 110-120 onwards on private runways, the car always felt a fair bit unsettled and I wasn't the only one that found this with her. No matter what I did, had checked or tweaked, just never sorted it enough for my liking. The old C5 was rock solid at those speeds and always felt totally planted.

2. We were going to do a big loft conversion on the house, so I decided to put the money towards that. However, with work destroying me, me quitting and telling everyone and their dog there to get stuffed and deciding to pay off all our debts instead as a safety net, killed that plan.

3. The Daytona Grey never massively did it for me, but Wifely loved the car, not as much as the C5 though!

Hey Nick - happened to be driving up your road the other day and noticed the car still parked there. Any plans to put it back on the road?

Hi guys. Still want to put her back on the road, the only thing stopping me is the gearbox. After calling Radoslaw at Auto Trans UK once last year, being asked to call him back in a sub-5 second conversation and I never did as I was just too busy to bother trying again, I dropped him an email and text a couple of weeks ago.

I had spoken to a few gearbox places before him last year and they had shut me down pretty rudely within seconds. I called him today funnily enough, got what to me seemed like a fairly short response from him along the lines of not wanting the work, have more than enough work without my awkward old goat. Tired and sick of people saying no, I happened to put the phone down while saying "ffs", didn't even do my usual of at least saying thanks and goodbye etc., regardless of meaning it or not. Hey' it's a Monday, work is a <beep>-show, I have lawyers en-masse with their pitchforks out over our CMS being a stinking pile of crap, I was tired ;)

Radek called me back! He was civil with me, but it almost seemed along the lines of being happy to call me out for a fight! :D. I apologised, explained to him that I was sick of being told no, am pretty well sick of life in general (usual same BS job stuff that I have moaned about for the last decade or so....) and just want to get the car sorted. I think we talked for the better part of 10 mins about stuff. Apologised a few more times again as I wasn't expecting him to actually be any different from all the others, he wants me to call back at the end of the week and we are going to see what's what.

Still wants to talk through things face-to-face, so despite me being 2m and 130Kg (as I also told him jokingly), he may well be as wide as I am tall and do his best to give me a damn good kick-in :D. Joking-aside, sounds promising and didn't go how I expected based on him calling me back/out for losing my cool.

The fact that he has been recommended by a few over the years and owned one himself is exactly why I want him to do the work!

Do you fancy having a go at removing the engine & box yourself? Or are you far too busy and need "someone else" to do that?

Three 18.5 hour workdays on the trot alone last week when I should be working 9-5 only, dogs, a kid that just doesn't stop, I honestly just don't have the time :(. Matt, I don't even wash the cars these days, they get stuck through a car wash every few months :(.

Less than a day to get it out I think mate? I’ve had mine out twice now!

2 People and a lift, yes, no problem.
1 person and on stands - doable, but it's a Mr footlong day rather than a normal one.
