Needed the car back on the road today.

In order, insurance + MOT + Tax + a tank of fuel = best part of a grand!

But, nice to have it back on the road again!

Congrats. I know what it’s like to be without. Hire car for a week and a half. Missed mine so much it was unreal.

It's bad, isn't it. I took it off the road last Oct for a major update, F125, EGT sensors, rebuilt rear suspension, rebuilt brake system and various other jobs. Got it finished in Jan, but didn't bother taxing it, waiting until the summer, and then BAM. Lockdown. So just didn't get round to it.

The joys of owning almost any car these days. The bright side is that for around the same money you get a ton more fun.

Got mine back from Bodyshop. Had the pleasure of it for 3 days. Now in garage for three days. Must get a second car as a runaround. So I am not totally without wheels.
Wife reckons a Fiat 500 ?
Get real !

I have the opposite problem. No shortage of cars, but all in various states of disrepair/scrap:
* RS - now on the road.
* Mazda 5 : The family car. Broken. Waiting injector replacement
* MG TF : Not enough seats. Rarely use it, but a fun runaround.
* Ultima Spyder : Not bothered to have on the road since 2014 (when I got the RS, interestingly)
* Landrover 90 V8 : Midway through putting it back together.

Problem is I don’t want to drive anything other than the RS6.
It’s just soooooooo enjoyable
And such fun.
I even enjoy fiat puntos and fiestas leaving me at traffic lights as they turn green.
It must be nearing the time when I hand my driving licence in and get a bus pass. Lol

****ing car. Power steering pump is squeeling it's knackers off and looks like it's locking up intermittently - volt gauge drops and charge warning light comes on.
New pump on order. FFS. That's front end into service position. Again. Unless it's the rack - in which case, it won't get done any time soon.

Mines got a little squeak to it when on lock. I’ve checked the fluid levels, which are fine. Could this be the start of my pump failing? Any obvious signs that show the difference between the rack or pump going?
Are either of these jobs relatively simple, is there a how to floating about the forum?

mMine is doing it while stationary with the wheels pointing straight and no load on the steering wheel. FFS
Pump,is just putting the lock carrier into the service position. Bumper off, service pins in, coolant waters the TPO tree, again, pull the whole damn lot forward and see what’s what. If interesting, I’ll do HowTo
The is no how to for the rack, it’s just taking the whole damn car apart again.

On the upside, ECP had stock of the injector for the Mrs’ Skazda, and given it’s a common rail diesel, it was ridiculously easy to replace, so that’s now back in service at least.
