looking at the price of new ones, assuming I can get one, used is starting to look more appealing.

Hey Shop is that the correct OEM part? If so then I'm charging way too much for a used part Image

Ah wait no... they ask for the old part to be provided in exchange, so I'm not that expensive in the end then.

Gents, I think the correct part number is 01L323571G and is somewhere between $$$extortionate.00 and €500.00 depending on where you look.... I'm fairly certain the RS6 converter is specific to the car, and not shared.... I seem to recall the gearbox housing is 'not quite standard' in order to accept it too.

Astrosquirrel - the one on getriebeteile24 will be remanufactured and on an exchange basis. Probably near as damnit, good as brand new though

Thanks for the part number.
I'll speak with ZF, confirm that it is no longer available, and confirm here.

Following on from all this info I located a used GAG auto box and TC for approx 700 pounds. Noting that there seems to be supply issues with the TC I thought I'd take a chance with the box and TC as it is for refurbishment and upgrade anyway. No other way to find out if the box is serviceable. The core charge alone for the US upgrade just about covers the cost of the whole box so I'm hoping that I break even or better.

An update on what I found out regarding the torque converter sourcing story.
ZF Holland can supply a torque converter. Origianlly they had two options on their system, brand new & remanufactured..... now they can only supply a remanufactured unit for EUR663 (exc vat), a lead time of 3-4 weeks, must send them the old unit.
My car couldn't be in the garage for that long so I ended up getting a unit from Audi-Germany, off the shelf in their warehouse, deliverd in 2 days, brand new, EUR1458 (inc vat).........killer expensive but at least the transmisison will be better than new.

A quick update.... The car is still at MP Carworks having the last bits sorted. I ended up driving it to Teo @Teo Motorsport in Poland for a full transmission rebuild and strengthen.
I bought a new TC from Audi in Germany. ZF couldn't supply me with a new one and could only recommission mine.
As the engine was out I had a few bits done in Poland & Germany also.
When I get the car back and have actually driven it I'll write down all the work & specs.
I went to Teo having spoken with Ricky Elders and researched a number of other places in mainland Europe. As Ricky said, Teo is a good bloke, Ricky has also had gearboxes rebuilt with him.
Some quick figures: Strongest they have made is 650bhp 800Nm (can be worn out after 40,000km. Teo recommended 580bhp 650/700Nm on this gearbox so it lasts.

I'll write everything when I've done some miles in it.

Sounding good. Glad I could contribute with the rear view mirror ImageImageImage... Nah but in all seriousness, I can't wait for the end result. It's been a long road and I'm happy to hear you're almost getting it sorted out. Image
