Looks to be a kind of step by step guidance.
Although its probably much easier like in vids with engine out..

I really like the Total Technik videos and watched their timing belt video. It was very interesting and nearly convinced me that I could do that job (not that it’s needed for a couple of years yet).

It's not a bad job. Just follow the steps in the right order and make sure you've got the right tools. Plenty of guides in the FAQ.

Obvs easier with the engine out, but it's not much more difficult with the engine in.

Where are Total Technik ? Seen many of their videos before, do they actually work on these cars ? Renowned for it ? You rarely hear them spoken of, it's always MRC or Unit20.

Another total technik fan here. Although I don’t have the skill (or patients) to do most things myself.
Instead of making things better would probably make things worse.
Always wanted to be a mechanic but found myself going in a different direction.
I Know my limitations????
Hats off to you guys who can do it yourself.
Must be so rewarding.

I really like there vids and would like to know more about them. In all honesty it was their videos that made me think I could own a RS6.

I’m the kind of person who doesn’t know much about anything but I’m foolish enough to give it a go and enjoy the experience as I’m doing it. I definitely don’t know my limitations. 🤣
What do you do Steve? You’re knocking the VCDS out the park. 👍

By the way I’ve had a few drinks so apologies if nothing I’ve written make any sense. 🤦‍♂️

What would you guys expect to pay now for having the timing belt etc done by an Audi specialist.

I was quoted 2k last week and I was almost sick !

I think if you do it properly ie new tensioner, pulleys, guides, bolts, aux belt, antifreeze, waterpump and thermostat you are looking at £1000 just for genuine parts. Just the aux belt is £90 from Audi

I had a fiat coupe 20vt back in the day and fiat had to pull the engine to change the belt, £2.5k back in the early “00. Thankfully the specialist soon found a way to do it with the engine in.

I'd just bought my RS6, and theres weren't any videos at the time... I used Ben's write up because this was my first 40v timing replacement, but figured it'd be easy to show everything with the engine removed (and on camera for those that like YouTube)
There's a few things I'd change, but definitely refer to Ben's awesome write up if you still have it in the car; my video was merely to help identify everything in a step by step manner with full access to everything.

Oh, and change your tensioner pads! All of mine broke so now I have to replace the intake valves lol
