What makes you think you've got a problem with the sensor?

/\ What Shop said. I did the same last year, turned out to be the ABS module/controller and not a sensor.

Re: Part no. ABS sensor
VCDS says nsf issues, looks a bit pitted, scored. Hoping not ABS module

Re: Part no. ABS sensor
Shopp & ahooga, ABS/ESP light intermittently showing, turn ignition off and clears again
Re: Part no. ABS sensor
Weiß-sechs - I had exactly the same. Would go for 5 miles one day before it came on, next day would go for 15 mile without coming on.After switching ignition off and back on, lights stayed off.Weiß-sechs wrote: ↑Wed Jun 10, 2020 9:17 pmShopp & ahooga, ABS/ESP light intermittently showing, turn ignition off and clears again
VCDS told me it was the front near side sensor , here's the VCDS log from the time,
Address 03: ABS Brakes Labels: 4B0-614-517.lbl
Part No: 4B0 614 517 AD
Component: ESP 5.7 RS 6 2310
Coding: 06697
Shop #: WSC 00000
VCID: 63CF9773F19E2A3913D-5140
1 Fault Found:
00283 - ABS Wheel Speed Sensor; Front Left (G47)
30-10 - Open or Short to Plus - Intermittent
changed sensor ( couldn't be bothered trying and swapping front sensor from side to side due to lack of time), that didn't cure it, ended up sending the module/ABS pump away to be done. that DID cure it.
Not saying yours isn't the sensor, but worth checking out more before buying one.

Re: Part no. ABS sensor
Yep, that's exactly the same as my issue. Got a new sensor coming today (Pagid apparently, £35+vat whereas TPS wanted £250+vat ) and take it from there. Ahooga, could you give us the heads up on where you sent the module to get fixed & how much?
Re: Part no. ABS sensor
Fingers crossed it's the sensor. I bloody hate getting them out.

Re: Part no. ABS sensor
I got mine done at www.atpelectronics.co.uk near Cannock Staffs. I think it was around £200, give or take a bit. My mate took it over to them, then collected it back a week later.

Re: Part no. ABS sensor
Well, that went really well...for a day.
Replaced the sensor, test drive, quick scan, all good.
On the daily run out today, still good until about 5 miles in, gentle braking to a red light...fecking ABS & ESP lights illuminate on the dash. Bugger.
So, plan B looks like getting the ABS pump & module repaired. Cheers for the info ahoooga, Cannock is only about 20 miles from me.
Just for the heads up, is there a particular protocol to follow when bleeding the brakes after the removal of the pump? Got to use VCDS?

Exactly what happened with me, 5 miles into commute to work, gentle braking at a set of lights and ABS light on dash.Weiß-sechs wrote: ↑Mon Jun 15, 2020 2:22 pmWell, that went really well...for a day.

Shoot. i was hoping you did have just a duff abs sensor. I've never bled my brakes myself,so can't advise you.
Re: Part no. ABS sensor
You don’t need to change the whole abs unit. Just the module. No need to bleed.

Re: Part no. ABS sensor
Check the connector pins on the cable side. The canbus was not reading correctly on mine and I found corrosion in the plug on the canbus and ground sockets. Cleaned both the spades in the module and the sockets on the cable end. This fixed the problem. Hope it's this simple for you.
