Pretty sure that's the exact same sensor that I have in my S8
Turns out that it isn't...…
The D2 uses 4B0907659B which is apparently somewhat different to your "A" version and also a lot more reliable and effective.

I don't know if they are interchangeable either. But it's still probably worth seeing if you can clean it up.

The ones in the RS6 are junk. You’ll never know if it’s working or not. Save your £100 for something more useful. ;)

HPsauce. Thank you. Really useful information. If I get chance will give it a go tomorrow. Would be nice to have a clean bill of health.
Many thanks mate
Regards Steve.

Shopp. Hear what you are saying. Will try a clean and see what that does. If they are that crappy.
Will spend the £100 on red wine. So you might not hear from me for a while ?????????

The B version is only just over a tenner from A8parts : https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Audi-A8-D2-A ... 2318119155
They know their stuff so if cleaning doesn't work give them a call to see if it's compatible.....

There are cheapo ones on aliexpress. Suspect the cheaper ones on ebay are these just double the price.

You could always call Stoke Audi for a price.

Try a clean first then enjoy the wine.
Nice to know it doesn’t do much. But will piss me off so eventually will get it sorted.

I thought it would irritate me, too, but turns out you can forget it quite easily!

Ordered used one from A8 parts (prestige motor parts)
£15:00 delivered part no 4B0907659A
Worth a gamble at that price.

Removed the sensor for cleaning. No access sealed unit. Reinstalled and did a rescan. Fault cleared. See how it goes.
Noticed that the housing filter locking clip had been broken. And the sensor holder was broken. Ordered a new housing.

Update the sensor fault has not cleared. When I did the rescan the HVAC was not recognised so not included in the summary of results.
Thanks shopp for pointing me in the right direction.

Update. New cabin filter housing installed. New sensor installed. HVAC error sorted.
However on the filter housing there is a hidden bolt at the rear. Had to remove the plastic windscreen water deflector to get to it.
This had been broken in the past and siliconed back in. New one purchased and fitted.
