So have two spare
If anyone wants one just let me know.

Awesome/ Have you fitted it? They are a bit of a biatch to dismantle.

Re: Central armrest.
Hi Shop. Not fitted just yet. Only arrived this morning.
Looked at a video of how to do it. Yes looks a bit of a pain. But if it’s broke fix it if you can ???
Lived with mine for ages.
Now have the time to sort a few things out.
Regards Steve.

Yeah, definitely fix it. I have a feeling that Footlong did a thread about this. See if you can find it. I think he had to modify some bits of the new mech. Maybe hold on to yours for the time being in case you need to destroy one.

Re: Central armrest.
Ha ha. I actually ordered 4. One to fit. One in case I break it.
Leaves two to give to fellow members.
Don’t want owt for them. Just glad to help any members with a similar problem.
Mine isn’t broken I think the spring has snapped or come adrift. Won’t know until I get in there.

Re: Central armrest.
Yes some really good reading. Enjoyed all the banter regarding road rage.
Must admit. Done the same myself on a couple of occasions.
I was a lot younger then and had a short fuse.
Much older now and a lot milder mannered.

No doubt a direct copy is preferred by many, but the catch is repairable and far more robust than I would expect from a china copy of the latch. I originally tried a number of fixes inc magnets etc but none provided the sideways location that the original design catch does.steve2003rs6 wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 2:17 pmHi Shop. Alu bracket held on with 3M tape, bullet proof and completely invisible fitted. The tape is what I used for some metal to metal where I couldn't spot weld and some 12 years on it is as robust as when fitted in the original application.

Re: Central armrest.
Ichbautauto. Nice job and pleased your repair works.
The Chinese replacement does look like a quality part. Had a quick look yesterday and it does match really well. They were so cheap that it was worth a punt.
Time will tell if they are any good.
Just trying to figure out the location of the spring before attempting to install it.
If I am lucky I may just have a broken/dislodged spring.

Re: Central armrest.
My catch was completely stuffed, broken plastic so my various attempts were the only way forward, and the broken catch incidentally lead to the hinges being broken as well. The PO seems like he was bull at a gate with some of the more fragile stuff that Audi grace these cars with. Fair to say that as I'm not on EBay, I miss some of the options that get mentioned on here. That may change as time passes.

Re: Central armrest.
I would gladly take your offer if it's still on, provided you let me pay for the part and shipping (France) if it's not too complicated to organise. Many thanks!

Re: Central armrest.
Don’t forget to put it in quarantine for 14 days, Classik. Unless you get it before June 8 in which case there is no need.
