Cool. You done your first auto scan?
Daytona RS6 C5 Avant. Viper'd, Billies, Waggers, MTM box brain, C6 stoppers, xcarlink, R8 coolant cap (woohoo)
///M3 E46 | XC90 (V8, natch) | Passat GTE | RR Classic V8 flapper

Ha ha. Not yet. Tomorrow all being well.
Spent most of the afternoon on the instrument cluster.
Been watching Ross-tech videos and you tube videos on how to use.
Just getting familiar at the moment.

Just a little tip. When clearing faults go into each controller manually that has faults then read and clear them.
I know it's "supposed" (if you have the full version with a genuine cable) to be able to automatically clear all, but in practice I've found that not to be reliable.

Hi HPsauce. Thanks for the info. It is a genuine unlimited Ross-tech cable. Should have “fun” rectifying the faults listed.
Will take a photo tomorrow of the faults info.
Until I get to grips with saving the info.

To save stuff I tend to use the COPY function then paste the results into a text file (or Word doc) and save it separately.

And stating the obvious, lots of faults may be quite old/historical.
So when first using VCDS log/save all the faults, then methodically clear them, then scan again and see what has returned immediately. Some errors do.
Then go for a run and check again and save those and clear. And again after your next run.
You'll soon figure out which errors are historical/irrelevant, which are intermittent and which are pretty "hard". Though even some of those aren't significant.

Many thanks buddy. I did save the file. But didn’t paste it.
Just getting familiar with VCDS and a new laptop.
Will get there in the end. Regards Steve.

The log files should be saved in the installation folder - under logs / scans

Hi sweegie thanks for asking
Cluster stripped to fit the chrome dial rings. To fit the two large rings you have to separate the glass front.
Someone had superglued it in two places. So the glass broke
Re ordered a third cluster with factory fitted chrome dials.
Swopped the glass/dials to the RS6 spare cluster.
Going to remove my original cluster and swop the glass/dials over.
At some point get the original cluster dis display renewed.
Must admit the chrome dials lifts the instrument panel very nicely.
Best regards Steve

Hi astrosqirral. I only know Ross tech for original cable. But some members on here more knowledgeable than me will be able to help you. Regards Steve.

This will do just fine. The Lite version is for 3rd party cables and this is the one I currently have that works just fine.
