VCDS Cable

Post by Mark-RS » Wed May 13, 2020 12:45 pm

Anyone tried these ?

https://www.obd2cartool.com/vip-link-va ... 68fbpm4ei6

Fully cracked with bypass chip soldered into the cable.

There are 2 options to choose from it seems.

Not sure if links like this are allowed, if not then please remove.

I'm certainly thinking about picking one up.

More info and help here..

Quite likely out of order here but as a community, if we shun the people, Ross-Tech et al, that support our passions with professional tools and products then in the long run we all suffer. Considering what we spend on keeping these things on the road, and I have two RS of that era that are totally different, a few pounds on products that keep the wheels greased is small beer in the big picture.

It's one thing to make an alternative (Sids EGT boards, B5 rear turrets, do88 silicon hoses and the list goes on), but bypassing a lockout so that someone elses software can be used is potentially illegal. If they want to make a cable AND write the software and go into competition then that's a very different issue and if they can produce a better product at a competitive price then I'm happy to try it.

Mark, I have a genuine VCDS cable for sale (unlimited VIN) if that's any help. Was selling it with the car, but will sell it to you if it's any help, won't be £15 though.
Think they're £400 brand new, you can have it for £275 and I'll hand deliver it to you this weekend if you want.

Of course Steve, have a feeling Mark is trying to keep the cost down so won't want it.

I've made my mind up now on the RS, I need to try a 2 seater. Fingers crossed I win the lotto and can keep it, but I do the lottery 3 times a week, well, I'm still working

Ok dunc. Keep me posted. Been after one for a while. Spent a lot recently on mine. And about to spend another considerable amount on the cooling system.
Was going to get one after all this sorted.
But if yours is available then job done.

I do understand what you guys are saying, I agree with it fully.

But having said that, being just a plain old Postie I am likely running this car on a fraction of the income of most of you guys and I have to pick and choose where I can save those vital £££.

Sorry if anyone was upset by the post.

Why don't you get a generic cable and use the free shareware version of VCDS? Or you can even activate the software to get the full version for $99. That's barely more expensive than the pirate solution.

I for one am very grateful for the work posties are doing at the moment. You should all get a pay rise.

Agreed. Our postie cheers me up ever morning.
Just wish they didn’t deliver all the invoices that need paying ????
Couple of posties in the family and yes they should all get a substantial pay increase.

This is actually a decent option. One I didn't think about. Something I shall look in to ! Thanks !

Thanks for the kind words also, although a Pay Rise is out of the question as we are now privately owned and the CEO Rico Back got himself a nice £6million lump sum and now they say there is no money left. He's also driven the share price to rock bottom, knocking over £4 from the original price ! And yet he buys millions of them each time it falls.... Sound fishy ?
