You need to be 100% sure the cable uses a real FTDI chip - there are a lot of cables that use cloned chips, which the genuine FTDI drivers won't talk to now. Look for a cable with a genuine FT232R chip for best compatibility.

This will do just fine. The Lite version is for 3rd party cables and this is the one I currently have that works just fine.
