Ok Chris will do
Ps my ski bag doesn’t unclip
So will have to leave it in there.
And the first aid kit in the rear armrest looks brand new.
Must all have been very careful drivers.

Would you believe it. Pulled into the garage. Hooked up laptop and VCDS.
Turned on headlights and the cluster backlighting is working.
He did say have you disconnected the battery. As that returns everything to factory settings.
I hadn’t so again totally weird.
But happy backlights are working.

I think it's much more likely that you can't see how to do it.....

I'm pretty sure they're designed to be removed for cleaning and to allow even longer items to be put through.

HPsauce. Thanks for that. Will have a much closer look.
Didn’t pull it all out to look. As they are a pain to return them neatly.
Or just leave it in there.
Had forgot about it until it recently came up on here.

Here's a video of how to do it in an A4, looks very similar to how my S8 is set up so A6 is probably the same.
It's ages since I took mine off (never gone back) to be honest and I don't remember exactly what I did...….

HPsauce. Appreciate the excellent video. Too much hassle for me.
Think I will leave mine in there.
But thank you.

As requested by a fellow member. Made a sacrifice to the Audi voodoo gods today. Also had a black magic practitioner dance around the car who whipped the car with bloodied chicken feathers.
Another guy turned up and placed a golden carp on the boot and another carp on the bonnet.
He then battered them with a pair of skis.
Hope this gets rid of the gremlins and intermittent problems I have gone through
recently.
