Re: Headlight levelling fault
Sensors... there is one at the front and back and they can fall off. Do you get any levelling errors show up on the matrix on the dash?
VCDS will show you the current values for each sensor - might be best to check in with that first.

Re: Headlight levelling fault
do all our cars have headlight levelling? or was it an option?
Re: Headlight levelling fault
All cars with xenon headlights must have it by law in the EU.

Re: Headlight levelling fault
south africa here, when I had my headlights out I didnt see any leveling mechanism
Re: Headlight levelling fault
They would have all been the same, even for the SA market.
There is a linear stepper motor on the headlights that pushes a rod in and out to change the level. There are 2 lever type level sensors on the suspension, one front one rear. You can see a photo in the Bilstein installation FAQ.
It's possible that your car had aftermarket replacement headlights.
I seem to remember doing a thread about the headlights once. Maybe I posted some photos.

The stepper motor goes where the bottom left circle is.

Re: Headlight levelling fault
Had a fault show up on mine. Mine was at the rear. Lever/ball joint assembly.
Had been broken previously and owner had done a poor repair.
Replaced with new. No problems since.

Re: Headlight levelling fault
should have updated this but mine are working fine.... never noticed them leveling before. I was parked on a slope with my lights on a garage door and when I started the car and had the lights on I could see them doing their thing.
Re: Headlight levelling fault
